Either way, Brettonian infantry is supposed to be garbage. The foot squires are already a non-lore addition to help stiffen up their infantry selection. That said, if you want infantry to just hold, then your best bet is either men at arms stiffened by a grail reliquae, or battle pilgrims with their frenzy+monstrous leadership. Foot squires are dedicated heavy infantry killers, and that's about it. They trade ok with non-AP infantry thanks to 70 armor, but it's nothing spectacular, and units like GG can give them a run for their money, if not outright trash them.
That being said, polearms with grail relique are great line-holders and will hold up against most low-medium tier infantry, and not to mention monsters
