Most legendary lord are rather different and also have different faction effects (boosts/buffs etc for the race) and there are 69 legendary lords (in mortal empires with all of the DLC), most of them also have different starting locations.
Then we have the fact that the vortex campaign have different starting locations for some of those same legendary lords and there are also different campaign goals/mechanics for some of them (The DLC ones mostly). So some of them are worth replaying in both mortal empires and vortex.
So if you wanna do some sort of 100% run you are likely gonna be here for hundreds if not thousands of hours :P
Once for each vortex participating race.
Once or twice for each lord pack excluding Queen&Crone and Prophet&Warlock
At least once for each race pack
For Mortal empires you have Drycha with her own story in the Wood Elves, the rest maybe once for each race, there aren't a whole lot of differences between each faction there, maybe the two most far apart starting locations for each race
Finish a Vortex campaign with Tyrion or something and cross the game off your list.
Hopefully you´ll enjoy the game and want more, but if not, that´s one game off your backlog.
- Alit Anar (naggaront?) of the high elfs has only a unique moving mechanic, similar to underground-movement. However, this only function in ceartain areas. Except of that, it's the basic vortex-story.
- all Vampire coast-factions have the same goal: pirating and defeating an sea-arch-nemesis eventually. They compete against each other, so no confed available.
- all Tomb kings have the same goal: conquering the black pyramid eventually (by searching and collecting special books of magic) similar to VC, they compete against each other, so no confed avilable.
- all rats except of eshin clan have the same vortex-goal. Although Skyre has access to a unique workshop, and Moulder (is this the "Züchterclan" in the German version?, because I mean his faction) has access to a similar workhop, mutating creatuers instead of upgrading war-gear.
- Tic Tac Toe of the Lizards has a uniuqe story, not bothering with the vortex.
- Nacai too. He is even a Horde-faction (the only one of the order) But relative difficult to play, because he doesn't have much income.
- WH1-factons available for vortex all have unique mechanic and story. Although beastmen function similar in ME and vortex since last patch
All LL have own beck-ground stories, even if they have the same goal in the campaign(s)
And there can be a huge difference between ME and vortex for the factions. Not only do they often start with other units, they often have extrem different starting positions. (Skyre, for example, starts in scavenblight, in ME the only city, I know, which has 12 building points at level 5. All other big cities have 9 and normal ones 7. And the map is also different. (pestilence has an unsuitable region in his starting province, for example and sits at the most southern point of the map, while in vortex. although also starting at lustria, (OIyxl),he is surrounded by other factions, including south.
So, there is a lot, although I didn't mention a count.
4 x base game factions in Vortex
1 x Vampire Coast
1 x Tomb Kings (possibly 2 x, can't remember if Arkhan has different story scenes)
2 x Hunter and the Beast
2 x Shadow and the Blade
2 x Grim and the Paunch
2 x Twisted and the Twilight
2 x Silence and the Fury
Some of the FLC Lords don't take part in the Vortex race, but from memory don't really have any story.
1 x Mortal Empires
No real story, so you can probably count just count this as a one off. Maybe 2 x for Chaos.
Yeah. No. I ain't touching mods...
