Lizardmen DLC
Hey guys I'm a new player in the RTS space and want to pick up Total War 2 since it's on sale. The Lizardmen are the faction that seems the most fun for me to play. I'm not sure what all the different DLC's unlock but do any of them have really cool units or leaders that'd increase my enjoyment for the Lizardmen specifically? I will likely never play the game in a VS online multiplayer format if that matters as I'd likely get completely annihilated since I have basically no experience with RTS games if that makes any difference to me getting any DLC's or what not.

In my opinion all of the Lizardmen DLC additions are so-so (The units added aren't bad per se, but they aren't a must have either).

So i'd personally recommend starting out with the base game and FLC (Free DLC) and perhaps consider Lizardmen DLC at the next sale.

Gor Rok is free-lc and one of the best melee lords in the game,
TikTaqTo is free-lc and my favorite Lizardman Legendary Lord,
The Prophet and the Warlock DLC gives you Tehenhuain, I dont care for him personally but others think he's fun.,
Hunter and the Beast DLC gives Nakai, the only horde style Lizardman,
and lastly Silencer and Fury DLC gives Oxyotl, a fun Lord for Lizardmen.

Gorrok and TicTaq are MUST HAVES, they're free and both very good in game.
I personaly dont give a ♥♥♥♥ about Tehenhuain
Oxyotl is a unique playstyle with a unique lord.
Nakai himself is a beast in battle, but his campaign kinda sucks, so 50/50 on that.

I'd say all the Lizardmen DLCs include really cool units, but they aren't necessarily great value for money. If you are fresh I'd suggest just playing the game without any DLC and then if you like a faction consider getting DLC for them. I started out thinking I'd like Tomb Kings and Skaven and as it turns out I really liked Lizardmen and Dwarves.

Thank you all for your guys suggestions! It looks like I'd be best just getting the base game and maybe get the DLC at some future point in time. I may get Warhammer 1 since it unlocks a bigger map I guess but I'll have to look into that a bit.

Here is the list I would recommend you get (if you don't have already) based purely on (my opinion) best DLC

1. Warhammer 1
----By far the best bang for your buck here. You get world 1 races(minus DLC) plus mortal empires map. WORTH :WHII_Money:
2. Prophet and the Warlock
----You get the best Skaven :WHII_Death: DLC in the game and some Lizard bois to play around with.
3. Tomb Kings
---- Add new mechanics with an Egyptian theme. They are heavy on big constructs and bones....lots and lots of bones.....

I'll second this.

Lizardmen have always been the 'second half' of all their DLC, none stand out for helping them, The Hunter and Beast helps them the most, but it's best for the empire side, you'd be getting the DLC mainly for getting the units since Nakai is a bit janky.
The Prophet and the Warlock is widely considered the best DLC, and helps add to their roster too, but it's mainly wanted for Skaven.

If Lizardmen are your jam, you don't need any DLC, and I'd advise just getting Warhammer 1 for mortal empires, and download all the FLC.
That said, if you get into the game, and want to get some of the DLC to add some spice, none are truly 'bad', just better or worse value for money, so more about how much time you spend playing, and how much you are willing to spend on discretionary purchases.

Don't be baited by the Dread Saurian from the Hunter and the Beast. It looks cool, but it's crap.

Hunter and the Beast has Razordon Hunting Packs, while Prophet and the Warlock has Salamander Hunting Packs. Those are both pretty strong mid-game ranged units. The rest of the dlc units are kind of whatever. Nice, but hardly necessary.
