Turn times are insane
Is there anything that can be done about the turn times for the campaigns in Warhammer II?

The Vortex campaign has a rather huge map with tons of factions, and that takes nearly a minute per turn. This is already long enough that I'm nearly at the limit of my patience. I've played through this campaign several times to completion, and I've never actually seen the entire map.

The Mortal Empires campaign starts off at a minute a turn, and by turn 10 it's already taking several times that. It took me nearly 15 minutes just to recruit a couple units, reach the closest town, and start a siege on it. The prospect of waiting another 6 turns (nearly another 15 minutes) of just watching the turns go by with nothing happening.. Alt+F4. I'm done.

It really doesn't help that for some reason the game is literally screaming at me either. It's got two different screaming (sounds like someone being tortured or something) sounds looping endlessly in the background.

As much as I love the Total War games, and as much as I love fantasy and the like.. these campaigns just suck. I wish I could cut out like 1/2 the map and most of the minor factions that take just as long to finish their turn as the empire that spans 10 times the area. This would easily be my favorite Total War game of all time, if it only had a civilization style "choose how big a map and how many factions" type of campaign.

There you go.

It gets rid of a lot of the minor factions no one cares about that are far away from your start point, leaving only the major factions (which is all you will be seeing by the time you get over there anyway).

Saved a ton of time for me.

Also the empire is no bigger than other factions, it is split up into a bunch of smaller ones instead of being one giant entity.

Totally going to have to give that a try.

Oh, by empire I just meant whatever random faction managed to conquer all their neighbors and rampage over half their continent in a given campaign, not the Empire faction.

Pretty sure this is the second thread about turn times that's cropped up in 2 weeks or a month or something...

Just picture how long game 3 will be if they go far east, for sandbox mode

Bigger isn't always better though - the mod Silamon recommended at least made the turn times somewhat bearable (reduced it from 60-90 seconds a turn down to 35 seconds), but by turn 30 it's already getting back up there again. There's like 6 different more or less identical roving pirate factions, and someone apparently founded a college of pyrotechnics.

There's a problem when a battle with two full doomstacks running at max graphics runs at a higher FPS (~30) than the campaign map (~5). The turn times are the real issue though, especially in the early game where there's more often than not literally nothing to do other than hit end turn.

I wonder if by game 3 they applied the same map system we had back in Empire, if it could help with turn times.

Also, it could maybe avoid them the need to cut and stiching back the maps to fit.

No need to cut anything. When they released ME, they already expanded the map eastward.

2T:
LUL, 15 minutes for 6 turns? Thats atleast 15 turns for me, turn times vary between 40 and 65 seconds for me. Which is still acceptable.

Bigger map and more settlemenets, as well as evenly spread factions across them alow for ultimate sandbox, in any part of the world (well almost). In this case, bigger is better. You got Vortex for smaller campaign.
Though it would be nice for some peope if they would make separate WH1 map, considering the updated factions I guess.

Yes, it's annoying that the waiting time is nearly much longer than your turns, who takes just a few seconds. Even at the start, where you have to build up an army, and wait 6or 7 turns, until it is done. As mentioned in another post, turn of the camera for all factions helps, but iam totally with you, turns are too long often.

I have no problem turns take about 50sec , i want more factions :)
The best way to have good turn times is to play TWW1 instead of TWW2.

CA managed to ruin turn times A LOT in TWW2.

Turn times didn't increase simply because there are more factions taking their turn time. Turn times increased about 5 times per single faction turn time! Now that is a real problem.

So instead of 2 seconds total turn time in TWW1 there is 40 seconds total turn time in TWW2.

CA seems to be incompetent and not valuing their customers about how they respond to this problem.

Lmao, what?
If you blinded yourself about your own expirience, go check people playing on youtube. You will see that for same youtuber TWW2 has 5 times longer turn times for a single faction turn time.

Explaing this again: each faction takes 5 more time to make turn in TWW2.

And of course I assume that all AI movement animations are off, otherwise you can watch AI move move forever in both TWW1 and TWW2.
