Last Defenders as a horde
Kroq-Gar's Last Defenders faction should be a horde. He's a hunter with orders from Mazdamundi to eliminate all those disrupt the Great Plan, having him settle and build static locations doesn't make sense when he is tasked with destroying the likes of the Red Duke and Morathi.

Yeah... but... playing horde factions sucks!

I would generally agree with you. I never liked horde factions in Total War games, but for Kroq-Gar it's not fun being tied to structures when his backstory is that of being on the run for centuries with Grymloq after fighting a chaos demon army.

I mean if we're going with lore, really the Lizardmen shouldn't be able to just colonize new settlements the same way other races do. They can't make new Spawning Pools, and Spawning Pools are their only means of reproduction: all of their troops would have to come from Lustria or a few cities in the Southlands.

I feel like it could've been a more interesting mechanic overall. Even Lizardmen hordes would have to be drawing their recruitment from Lizardmen lands.

Kroq-gars job is more then just find and destroy the enemies of the lizardmen.

As practicaly commander in chief of hexoatl and most of the lizardmen military he is in charge of the protection of the temple cities. And mazadamundi sends him when he needs to get a job done right and in this case that job is rebuilding the lizardmen holds in the southland.

He isn't like Nakai who just goes around beating on enemies of the lizards. He is their highest ranking officer so it makes far more sense that he is actually in charge of some kind of organized attempt.

No thanks, no more hordes.

With this logic.. teclis should be a horde. Alith anar should be a horde

Fellheart should be a black arks only horde

Grand hierophant guy should be a horde

Basically a lot of characters that starts away from home region will be hordes.

To be fair, the Fellheart one makes sense. There's a reason that the mod that turns him into a black ark is one of this game's most popular.

Never seen the fellheart mod

That's broken now.. hope it gets updated soon.

Seriously.. I still don't understand why CA still dont give him the black ark.
zefyris Oct 14, 2019 @ 1:36pm
No, they can't.
Because they're one of the main factions on the vortex campaign, so they need settlements. How are you going to take ritual sites and how are you going to have settlement to perform rituals otherwise?

Also until CA manages to do better hordes faction, and as proven by Nakai they're indeed trying to do better but are still far away from getting anywhere near the level of non-horde faction right now, increasing the number of horde faction would not be a good thing for the game.

The way I play Kroq-Gar is a lot like Archaon, razing most everything in sight. I RP and I make attempts to go around the map completely exterminating all those who aren't part of the Great Plan.

A horde faction would make this task simpler and more efficient by being able to recruit while on the move. I understand the Last Defenders are a core faction, but we've had hybrid factions before in Total War. Factions that can settle or pick up and go on the move.

And I agree Fellheart is needs to command his own Black Ark, the Tower of Blessed Dread, in-game. The mechanic is already there for the pirate lords, idk why they didn't give it to Fellheart. That mod is broken, it would give every lord under the faction a Black Ark.

Given that one of their replenishment techs explicitly states that they are teleporting reinforcements to the army, regardless of where in the world they are, I'm pretty sure they won't have a problem teleporting in a few dozen Saurus and Skinks to sort things out in newly conquered areas - and the recruitment buildings are merely direct teleportation links to the original spawning pools back in Lustria rather than newly created ones.

That's my headcanon for it.

The black ark he starts with even has a unique kraken sculpture on the front.
