LLs are basically just faction leaders, arent they?

Most of them lead their own factions, but if they're confederated they're not faction leaders anymore, just legendary lords.

So LLs are simply LLs - Lords with unique items and skills and army effects.

Basiclly yes but you might have extra like Tyrion is the Etaine leader but he can recruit Alastor or Von Carstein's start as one LL but in next turn you can recruit missing one.

Basiclly yest but you might have extra like Tyrion is the Etaine leader but he can recruit Alastor or Von Carstein's star as one LL but in next turn you can recruit missing one.

Sure, you can get faction leaders as normal generals. But they are "originally" faction leaders.

Or are there LLs that never lead a faction?

Gotrek doesn't lead a faction and is a completely unique LL. Also, as mentioned Alastor isn't either.

Also before halfway through game two's life cycle, many LL's were paired with other LL's. E.G Khemler with manfred, Balthasar Gelt with Franz, Ungrim Iron fist with Thorgrim. there was a time when many LL's shared the same faction and start location, thus the term LL came to mean all unique generals for the faction.

Yup, usually you built a building, conquered a city or did a quest, to get another legendary lord, was something like that. These days its often to confederate the faction.

If LL means any unique lord, regardless of him being (in another start) able to lead a faction or not, then thats indeed different from what I assumed.

That said, depends; does the game actually have unique generals that can never be a faction leader? I cant remember.

The Red Duke of Musilon comes to mind.
