Vortex vs Mortal Empires? Which campaign do you prefer?

Which campaign do you personally prefer and why? Which one is more interesting and more fun to play?
Maybe some particular factions play better in particular campaign?

I'm torn. The vortex map is better (less crowded) for Ulthuan, so any campaign that happens there (high elfs, Eltharion, Grom, Rakarth) is going to be better on Vortex. Also, there's more water, so Vampirates are better on Vortex map. Tomb Kings and Vampirates have cool objectives on vortex, so I wouldn't play them on ME.

Naggarond and Lustria are boring on both maps, IMO, so take your pick for lizardmen and dark elfs.

For everything else, Mortal Empires. Skaven in particular feel much more at home in the old world than the new world. Also, the vortex objective itself - doing the rituals and stuff - is kind of decent, but not very exciting once you've done it a couple times. But then again so does conquering everything.

I love that Ca attempted a campaign that is narrative driven i hate that they became lazy and made armies teleport from nowhere though

I like ME as well though, i play both campaigns equally i guess.

Vortex is fine for a single playthrough or two, even in coop.

However Mortal Empires is where the Warhammer is.

Contrary to the opinion above, I don't think that ME is any superior to vortex.

I enjoyed the two Vortex campaigns I've played. That said, I do choose ME a lot more, and have dozens of games going there.

I hate the fact that I can't coop with "non-scrolls-gathering" factions in Vortex. I mean, why can't I just play as Thrott ?

For me vortex was boring on legendary/very hard because of the ritual mechanics. You need to collect a lot of ritual relics and fight waves of dumb AI stacks. Vampire campaign on vortex map is fun though ( has a good pirate vibe).

i am a 100% with zefyrus.

playing a new world race -> vortex and vice versa.

as far as the geography of the maps is concerned i've come to prefer the vortex map. i feel it is larger and ulthuan is not squished into egg shape.

if the ME map was a 1:1 combination of old world and new world maps with more than tiny waterways in between i'd go with the ME map every day! ... but it isn't ...

I actually would like more optional "incursions" in every map. I don't know, but when I play as Dark Elf, I never see Dwarfs, Orks or Empire. I would like more possible encounters outside the main grand campaign map, if you understand what I mean.

Yup; but new factions have other objectives on the vortex map. Like vampirates -- don't need to do any rituals and have a wide open ocean to screw with.

I don't think I could pick. I like the Vortex map more, and I like the extra story and intro quests, but some of my favorite factions are Mortal Empires only.

I enjoy the variety of ME, but I prefer the layout of Vortex. I pick based on what I feel like playing.

I like the more "story" focused campaigns the Vortex bring as I like having a bit of structure in a campaign and a route to follow (Ex. Vampire Coast, Tomb Kings etc). Although, if a particular factions only goal is collecting stuff for the vortex ritual I usually just play them in ME instead because it gets a bit drawn out and boring. ME is very enjoyable as well though and I feel like it takes a bit more planning on my part to do well.

I feel vortex is a lot easier for factions, especially in the early game, as there are a lot of simple quests and rewards. This especially applies to Tomb Kings. I was quite shocked at how easy Khalida's Vortex campaign is compared to her Mortal Empire's campaign.

Getting canopic jars in the early game for Tomb Kings in Moral Empire's campaign can be a pit of a struggle.

I also religiously play Mortal Empires now after I encountered armies that would teleport in. Hate that.

I hate the armies that appear on Vortex. If they appeared a bit out of your territory and then went for you i wouldnt mind it so much. As it is they seem to spawn where you have no armies and burn all your stuff down before you can get to them.

Having said that i really like the Vortex map so sometimes play that and ignore the Rituals.
