Tips on Eye of the Vortex for High Elves?
I've tried to win the High Elf campaign three times, but after about 120ish or so turns all of the Dark Elves and Skaven end up going into the High Elf provinces and destroy pretty much everything. The furthest I've gotten so far is to the third ritual, but I can't seem to avoid the end result no matter what I try. I also put the campaign on Easy mode and that doesn't seem to help much. Any tips?

High Elves, especially on Ulthuan, tend to be among the easier campaigns so I think there is something fundamentally going wrong here. What is your army build like? How do you structure your provinces? Are you building defence buildings, particularly in your ritual sites and border towns? Do you prioritise growth buildings early on? High Elves are a very strong ranged faction so make good use of their archers, protected by immovable spear walls. Tyrion and Teclis are among the best lords of their class in the game, so don't be afraid to get them stuck in.

Also, don't feel the need to do the ritual as soon as you can; you can delay it and keep collecting fragments until you're ready.

are you turtling? don't turtle
you don't need a full stack of 20 units to win a battle
rush out there, accept a loss or two because you spread too far and take it back

and focus on growth more

by turn 120 as high elves you should own all of ulthuan, if not the entire map.

with no dlc lothern sea guard are your best units, you can spam them if you want or make a balanced army around them. don’t forget a mage, they can get hundreds of kills.

usually on my high elf campaigns by turn 40-50 i own all of ulthuan and some other continent that seemed fun to conquer, oh and i play on very hard campaign and hard battle difficulty with legendary chaos invasion. Be aggressive but also cautious

oh and finally just wait for the next steam sale and get tww1 for Mortal Empires because it would be a lot cheaper.

So basically from the first turn I should be focused on occupying other settlements? Should I also make other factions join my confederation too? I'm still a bit new to the game, so I'm just figuring things out.

if you are new avoid confederations because you wont know how to keep yourself from going bankrupt after the fact, idk how you are struggling because easy is a joke but watch some tutorials and dont worry about chaos unless you take naggarond. i would normally say grind for traits like knowledgeable, entrepreneur spam and confident but especially disciplined.

Which HE faction are you specifically? Tyrion is the easiest still. The general strategy will be to take control of your main province first. Then, go after Caledor and work your way around the outside. Some elven factions will be naturally friendly, while some naturally hostile. Caledor tends to be hostile so you want to fight them in order to secure the first ritual resource site.

You'll eventually want to get a second ritual resource site. Ulthuan has a second one up north. While you're doing this, make friends with the friendly elves, particularly if one gets the other ritual site (if a hostile one gets it, just go to war). Send an agent to the southeast and southwest to make contact with the factions there. The Tomb Kings will like you and make good trading partners, as will Teclis and Markus.

Make sure to build walls in every settlement, and stick with mainly economic buildings. The HE economy is very strong, so once you get trade going, you should easily be able to field enough armies to defend against enemy incursions.

Well, I got to the Final Battle quest after using some of the tips from this thread (thank you!), but now the problem is the actual battle itself. I think it's a little unfair that you can only bring in one army whilst defending against 4 different lords, but okay. Is there a specific strategy to the Final Battle?
LCDC Jan 30, 2021 @ 9:34pm
yeah dont die, a 1v4 is super easy because each army comes one at a time. doesnt matter if they are doomstacks or not, you will win unless you have a ♥♥♥♥ stack

and i cant give you army advice beacuse idk what dlc's you have and also what difficulty are you on
