Is the Warden & Paunch dlc worth getting just for the units?

simple question, I don't care about the legendary lords or their mechanics, is it worth spending €10 on units, or will vanilla units do fine to finish a playthrough?

You can get by with vanilla. Should be another sale next month if you decide you still want it.

Greenskin units yes
High elf units no

Greenskin units are better imo, but they are not necessary at all to play them. The best think they got from the dlc was the rework (and you already get that with vanilla), and Grom, who is a great LL and has a really good campaign.

The high elf units are not worth it imo, unless you are playing as Yvresse, their exclusive units are pretty good, but again, not necessary to win. Sisters are much better, and they are from the other dlc.

Imo, if you are planning to play other LL and only want the dlc for the units, I probably wouldn't get it.

FYI you can only get a bunch of those high elf units playing as eltharion. you can easily finish a HE playthrough without the others

Totally. The trolls are crazy good. The hag is almost a must. The snotlings are quite decent.

For units specifically?
HE yes, if you want to use Eltharion as your LL or like more cavalry options(and want to make alastar a viable LL), otherwise it's an easy no.
GS yes, if you want all around better troops then pick it up. They have a very nice roster upgrade in the DLC, new hero, but the stone trolls are really good.

I think that both the Silverin Guard, White Lion Chariot(a much better option than the Ithilmar Chariot), the War Lions and the Rangers are all decent units. Also, access to Archmages Lords is a pretty big deal, and the Arcane Phoenix has some very powerful synergies with certain units.

So yeah, if you like playing the High Elves, get it. Even if you dont want to use Eltharion(although I think he is a lot of fun as well).
