Sword of Khaine (first run) Question

So this isn't my first run but it's my first game I intend on actually finish because my ADD tends to get me running multiple campaigns with no finish lol anyway I'm playing Tyrion and I'm now presented with claiming or letting the Sword of Khaine be. Should I take it? or should I wait and go for it on another run?

I used to think it wasn't worth the PO order penalty, and would only keep it for the first tier if at all. But the last changes to the PO mechanic make it much easier to deal with it, so in my last campaigns I've actually kept it and was able to deal with it without much trouble with both Empire and Wood Elves, and I also intend to get it in my current campaign as VC, although perhaps other races might struggle more (playing on VH difficulty).

Id save it for a run you plan to get it ahead of time and base your economy on entertainment buildings in every provinces.

That said the best faction ever to use the sword are hordes faction stealing it as they dont get affected at all by 2 of the 3 drawback.

depending on the difficulty it can be either really great or the bane of your existence. Easy to hard it's awesome. VH to Legendary? Oof well ya better put on a lot of influence to make every one love you.

Tyrion by himself can flex most things out of the way, but he does do well with the Sword or Kaine. That being said I don't find it worth it on the VH or L difficulties.

With the new way the wood elves are set up, Durthu can completely rock the sword of khaine.

All thanks to that outpost building that does public order and untainted in all adjacent provinces.

You slap those all over the place, and even with maxed out sword, you'll be at 100 PO and +20-something while taxing them.

I'm running it on easy right now, I'll keep that in mind when I get to the harder difficulties

high elves are one of the few factions where you can take it without problems, after you confederated the other legendary heroes you will drown in po, as almost all of them have global po bonus, add to that, that handmaidens can provide an additional +1 po global and that their po building gives income, so it isnt a wasted building slot, yeah po isnt a problem for highelves at all except for the first couple turns

Same with lizards, +1 po per each level 20 saurus lord/hero.

It takes a long long time to build up that province if you don't capture it mostly developed. I wouldn't go running around with it too long, but picking it up before final battle couldn't hurt any.

Vamps can use the sword no problem, too. +10 Public Order from vampiric corruption, +3 from repression buildings (each), they have a nice PO safety net.

Go bloodline of aenarion + sword of khaine and all you need is tyriom.

you can do this and get a insanely powerful one man army, but you end up with permanent faction wide penalties. Not worth it imo.

Just a quick side question. When did they change the Sword of Khaine penalties? And what did they change?

The penalties are no issue. High public order + very strong economy.
