How to play as two factions?

Does anyone know of any mod or means by which I could play a campaign as two different factions simultaneously?

A console command, a mod, a jury-rigged version of Co-op, anything would do.
I just miss the days of hotseat campaigns rather badly.

pretty sure non of the total war games ever had hotseat. haven't played napoleon too much, but if it has it, it will be the only one that has.

How would you command units during the real-time battles if both factions were using the same computer?

Logically you couldn't, battles between those two factions would have to be auto-resolve.

Medieval two had it, thanks to its expansions, and the first Rome sort-of had it, but only via console commands.
