I do have a suspicion CA was just not able to balance AI DE black arks. AI DE spams the rite to get it on cooldown and with hard difficulty cheats pays pretty much no upkeep. If the AI actually utilized them as well, DE would totally dominate the map. Still sad as it is fairly easy to fix, just dont have the AI spam the arks.
About the "it would be OP if used by the AI" that's not true because right now the AI gather a lot of them simply because it's rare that they lose one because they don't use them as an attacking force. Also, one can simply increase the rite's cd for AI only.
Noobs will still complain, but honestly, there's few times they do otherwise.
Some will excel at it (seafaring factions). Make the port blockade real. Attacking from the ocean, defenders can still move out over land. Attacking on land, they can move out through the port. If you encircle them completely, they can't move anywhere. That should be another option in besieging armies - option to encircle (and sapping, etc while at it). An army on land and one on the water would do the job.
While we're at it, require waiting on the shore for a turn (minimum) to build temporary ships when moving into bodies of water. No instantly moving into water (unless that's a special faction trait - quick ship building.) Some are bad at it and should take at least 2 turns.
Also... for Skaven/GS/etc the ability to come up through the sewers/underground and attack from within the city. Give us some diversity of battles.
Hehe totally agree with this sentiment. These days i see an AI DE stack of 5 elite black arks and i can only imagine how f***ed i'd be if those things actually attacked my coast.
This would be great. Honestly, if WH3 doesn't have significantly better siege battles, and i mean totally mechanically reworked, not just some balance changes, I might not buy it.
It's not even the most difficult thing to implement. Especially if they are going to improve the cities. We've had better settlements before and there's no reason not to at this point.
