Does anyone else feel clan eshin defeats the point of being skaven?
it separates itself from nigh all of the traits of the skaven and only keeps the good ones.

food is no longer an issue because you can just stab someone in the back for some of the factions and get enough to catapult to max food capacity

loyalty is no longer an issue because of the clan loyalty perk

its no longer quantity over quality, because with certain techs you can make clan rat units with 30ish defense and attack, being basically as good as empire swords/spearmen with more units, and the upkeep isnt an issue because of snikch's lawyering prowess

and the 200% recruit cost penalty is so minor its barely an issue (a removable one at that)

it ends up just being "Skaven but literally just better in every way"

IMHO
Bad starting pos, buff to units that usually you wont use in legendary/veryhard battle

Best Skaven clan is Skryre, Moulder is okay tbh then i'd day Rictus, Eshin, Pestilens and then Mors

so many of you hate my boy queek =[

Legendary Mount Arachnos gobbos are just a pain in the A to deal with, now there is also a big grumpy boy south...
Queek and Mors (also Skrolk and Pestilens) are suffering "early launch factions" status, nothing personal

Thats why i generally turbomod Warhammer 2, even without SFO

His playstyle is mostly utilising skirmisher unit and assasinating lords or singe entity units. Kind of similar with oxy but Snikch come first.

Eshin is the clan that has access to infinity gauntlet so in my list he is the most OP skaven to the point it is game breakingly broken.

His starting pos is bad but he is easy mode for skaven.

to be fair quantity over quality only works in the early game on high difficulty

Most DLC's have cool stuff but nearly all of them are overloaded to the point where none of them present any kind of challenge.

Eshin is skaven, that playes on campaign map and not battlefield. And yeah, they are powerful in their own way. But 200% penalty is no joke, man! It slows you down significantly! At point, when you can forget about said 200% you winning anyway, so... I dont think i agree with your main point. Yes, they are, in the end, most powerful of clans. But it took time for them. WHile other clans, like skryre or moulder, are powerful to begin with.

They seem like the worst of them all to be fair. Like sure the shadowy dealings thing can go and delete a faction like by the time you're so many turns in that you've already more than won, but the cost penalty is killer, I know they get AP on their night runners and gutter runners, but those really don't compare to the massive killing potential of a frontline of warpfire throwers at the start moved over to ratling guns later on and they're the only skaven faction that outright has a penalty towards getting their strongest units for campaign.

Not to say they're outright difficult to play or anything compared to the other clans, but weapons teams are weapons teams and AI is AI, why wouldn't you just mow them down? Basically weak early game, strong end game.

Everyone brings up good points but the most important point is that you aren't using the units that get buffed in much higher difficulties because the AI simply outclasses them early. I'm halfway through a legendary campaign with them because I thought it would be easier given the buffs but it's really not. And his starting position is a trash fire. I've been riding the struggle bus for a long time on that legendary campaign

You can play Eshin on L/VH with nothing but stealth armies. Disciplined assassins backed by stupidly fast-moving, armor piercing, poisoning ninja-rats on skirmish shred everything. And sieges? Well, you can just take the center without a fight usually; otherwise, you stealth in, get behind, and proceed to shred. Not to mention the underrated power of the Eshin sorcerer.

If you're playing Eshin with expensive ratling guns, doom wheels, stormvermin, etc., you're making things much harder than they need to be.

My thoughts exactly. Personally I like they're start position as it allows you to troll enemies on the other end of the world and they'll never be able to find where you live to retaliate (although it takes a while to get out there). I like to see how many buffs Snikch can get from hunting LL's down.

As for having too much of a good thing I feel the delay in getting Rattling Gunners to be a significant offset. Also it will take you 30 turns to get where you need to go, which is the price you pay for your other bonuses LOL.
