My question isn't that complex its literally just asking people to give their individual ranked list of factions for either campaign or multiplayer from those that they feel are the most underpowered to the those that they feel are on top right now. It's not a serious analysis just a survey of people's opinions.
trust me, not worth the time. lol
he doesn't mean best auto resolving faction btw.
1. Beastmen
2. Skaven
3. High Elves
4. Wood Elves
5.Dark Elves
6 Greenskins
7.Vampire Coast
8.Tomb Kings
9.The Empire
10.The Dwarfs
11. Lizardmen
12 Brettonia
13. Vampire Counts
14. Norsca
15. Chaos
for multiplayer best race is "my opinion" brets and worse as of the current patch "tier lists can change literally every single patch in multiplayer" tomb kings
1) Wood Elves - basically at the perfect spot with the only thing that needs some tuning is Orion.
2) Skaven - perfect spot for most of the factions that have been represented, only things missing is a more unique mechanic for the base lords and Verminlinglords.
3) Empire - Fantastic spot. Just needs some more important characters added in and maybe more varied dilemmas for the elector count system and it would be perfect
4) Greenskins - Really great spot, although I feel like something can still be added to them to make them reach peak potential. I'm not sure what exactly, but it feels like there's something missing between WAAAAAGHS!!!
5) Beastmen - Their update conceptually is perfect, the issue is that the numbers and penalty systems are really off right not, making their campaign feel super easy and tensionless. They just need some tweaking here and there and they would be perfect.
6) Tomb Kings - They're at a great spot.
7) Vampire Coasts - They're at a great spot
8) High Elves - Are the pinnacle of "Good" spot. They have a great roster and have good passives to allow them to have a very strong economy and diplomatic relations, but a lot of its very passive and simple. Having a elven court or pheonix king system similar to the Empire would be a fantastic addition to raise them to perfection.
9) Dark Elves - Similar to the High Elves but instead of good passives for diplomacy there's good passives for raiding and pillaging, though their slavery system feels unintuitive and boring to interact with. A rework to slavery and a political system would be some things that could help raise them to perfection.
10) Vampire Counts - Lots of cool units, tech trees, magic, and playstyle helps make them a pretty good faction without any major reworks. Though their campaigns can often feel like a grind fest as you slowly build corruption in regions to take them over. A way to influence other factions or maybe even hijack the elector count system would be a great way to make them feel perfect.
11) Bretonnia - They're at decent spot right now. Nice thematic mechanics and unit roster, though as a FLC faction they do feel it. More infantry/support units and a more in-depth chivalry system would be really nice for them.
12) Dwarfs - Their recent update really did a good job to help them feel more fun and unique, though they do still feel limited by their roster lacking golems and the runes being limited. Its heading in the right direction, but more craftable runes with more unique and varied abilities alongside a more in-depth grudge system are all things that can help push them closer to their peak potential.
13) Lizardmen - Absolutely fantastic roster, arguably one of the best unit rosters in the game, with some of most lackluster and awful faction abilities in the game. Most of their lords lack faction buffs, their geomantic web feels very passive and in the background, and many of their unique faction mechanics feel half baked. Its a faction that's almost entirely dependent on their unique unit roster to carry it in singleplayer, so hopefully in game 3 this faction can get a major rework that helps make the faction feel more active on the campaign map and finish up the unique faction mechanics.
14) Norsca - While they do have a fun confederation mechanic, monster hunting, and totem razing, their roster feels very copy&paste heavy and they're an awkward combination of not being a horde faction and not being a complete settlement faction. Some more unique units, more monster hunting quests and rewards, etc would be really nice for them.
15) Chaos Warriors - Barebones tech tree, barebones roster, barebones faction mechanics, bare bones campaign goal. The entire faction screams barebones and is in desperate need of reworks in every area of their campaign.
The best factions in the game are the ones that can archer spam, so high/dark elves. The worst factions in the game are the ones that rely on slow melee, so Norsca and Chaos.
I used to play Vampire Counts a lot in TW1 but they have never found a good spot in TW2, even after the Bloodlines update they remain too grindy and are not worth the effort. If you want a vampire campaign where your faction actually feels like a bunch of powerful vampires, go Vampire Coast, they are way more fun to play.
Norsca are in a bad spot but not as bad as Chaos Warriors. Feels too grindy to get anywhere.
Chaos Warriors, I am hoping they get a major rework in TW3.
Worst: Bretonnia, Norsca
Skaven are hard to play too but they have lot of thing unique to them so I will not suggest them for new players.
The most easy campaign I got was with the Elven Sisters of Twilight. Eagle Archer are real powerful units and you can literally teleport anywhere on the map and get backup real fast.
-Hight Elves are good too have a strong defensive place with all the Gates. They have access to powerful dragon and the SIster of Averlorn can fire so far that they will cripple almost anything.
_-I Like the vampire count too. They dont have very powerfull units, but you can spawn free hordes of zombie and skeleton with the right upkeep research. Plus the graveyard thing that you almost dont need building to recruit units. The building for vampire corruption make your controlled core territory very hard to take. So you can almost just sit and wait that your neighbour fall to your influence and revolt . Then raid and pillage while playing your string in the back-scene.
