Honestly I feel like they should kinda be limited to races with actual money. Why are the ogres interested in chaos god favor or orc teeth anyway.

ya it wrecked me i was real early on...favor was 300 so 3 of them cost me like a grand..flip side is woa they are op units

So what is the favor going to then? I get thats the lore explaination but am I paying off the families of the gors im feeding them? Am I praying to slannesh to bless the ogres with food? Would make more sense to have them hurt growth or replenishment for the chaos factions instead of costing evil pretend money.

it's not a simulation bud. Rules are abstracted to support game mechanics. Yeah, the ogre mercs shouldn't cost 700 upkeep for a faction that doesn't have a real economy to speak of (game mechanics terms, not just economy in a literal sense) but it should have some cost and punishing growth (as another poster suggested) may be a bit harsh.

Lore wise ooohhh yes. Ogres don't care about chaos as having another arm is just plain convenient but the gods of the north are odd compared to the large hole in the ground. Also Ogres need money to get food, if they can just get food then okay. Game wise why not? Really the only one that shouldn't get them is Bretonnia as they despise mercs thinking them dishonorable and that comes way back from table top. Ogres even more so.
