Why is Malekith so over the top powerful?
Every single playthrough, its always him confederating the Dark Elves and your final conquest enemy is 98% of the time is Malekith. I get that he is the Witch King but its a bit ridiculous to have him completely dominate his region and every surrounding area by turn 100. Its not like this happens every so often, its almost every single game and I have completed conquest with several lords so I feel this gripe is justified.

Isn't this the norm with the main race leaders if you don't take them out early? Like Tyrion with the rest of the High Elves, Thorgrim for the Dwarfs, Karl Franz for the Empire, Mazdamundi for the Lizardmen or Orion for the Wood Elves?
true all faction leaders have a greater chance of confederating but Malekith confederates the quickest and has the strongest army early on in every single conquest game. hence why he takes over the entire NW corner so soon. Whats my biggest gripe is when I play a faction thats across the world, and I finally get to him, his armies are (mostly) weak in comparison with just multiple high stacked mediocre armies that rick roll the factions in the area. To be such a bland faction I see no reason to see this domination constantly. Franz is one thing bc you have to earn all of those seat holders but all Malekith has to do is hop on a dragon and send doom stacks of tier 1 units all over the place. The Dark Elves are supposed to be the biggest feared in WH2 but tbh they are more annoying and underperform time and time again in the game.

Bruh, Dark Elves are definitely one of the stronger factions if you know how to use them properly. In a recent multiplayer tournament, they did alright, better than both the Empire and High Elves when it came to scoring wins with The Empire itself being among the bottom five.

Its just that the AI in general, regardless of which faction tends to make lots of terrible decisions on what units should recruit.

But yeah you should actually take out Malekith quick if you don't want him to dominate Naggaroth.
I see this thread every time and always with a different race. If it's not Skaven it's DE, if it's not DE, is HE or Lizardmen or Greenskins.

100 turns... If A.I. can even achieve a confederacy by then you should be grateful for a late game challenge...

Malekith and Tyrion both have a start location with no strong rivals around them. This lets them build up and snowball in 99% of games.

Karl Franz, Grimgor, and either Queek or Snikch are also usual suspects for becoming superpowers, albeit not quite as reliably.
and back to my original point, its ALWAYS Malekith being the no.1 with 75+ settlements, never Franz, Oxyotl, Queek or even Grimgor. Im speaking merely about the consistency of Malekith's constant dominance in my observance of it being stupidly overpowered in the overall might compared to the other major factions. Even Tyrion usually gets landblasted by the DE, rarely does those elves leave their island.

Could be game imbalances etc., whatever...

Then if you know the real threat, take it out.

Early...
it would be nice to have a way to omit select factions from mortal empire games during new game creation.
Taking Malekith early on while your slugging it out in the jungle of Estalia, for instance, is not only unreasonable its suicide.

Ok then.

You know I see a lot of threads like these . It could be neither or nither.

If you truly think there is imbalance, please forward your case...

Screenshots, stats, blah blah blah

Good luck.

The last few playthroughs I've had have the Skaven in his area (usually Moulder, sometimes Rictus) as the dominant force I have to deal with late game.

Pretty much.

According to this forum every race is op and its constantly dominating the campaign map.
