Morathi.. Why a loving mother?
While I do get the Trope, If feels really out of place with her character and the Dark elfs society..

Mostly tho i'm just disappointed That my otherwise all powerful ancient Evil sorceress waifu is such a loyal selfless goody too shoes... To a son that is a failure and ultimately far less worthy than herself - -

Why Would somebody of her stature, Stoop so low as to prop up and spoil such a brat like..Malekith I mean one fu*k up is ok, But like 1000's of years later and He hasn't accomplished anything, Only taking action when a Possable victory is dropped in his lap lol If he wasn't stuck in that armor h'ed probally be a ballooned out Faty that couldn't even support is own weight, Never moving from the couch and hollering for mama to bring him some food.
Its just so lame and off putting to an otherwise Awesome character.

Edit: So after reading Some of her lore linked and hearing your comments i gather:

She Doesn't really want to rule, But She does gain enormous satisfaction in corruption of other powerful people. Thus her fetish is to see change done to the world Not by her own hands, But by the people she has influenced with her beauty and corruption.
This does make me like her just a little bit more. Sadly this is not portrayed well in game if it is indeed the case. She comes off more as a Brainwashed servant of mal then anything else.

I'm not that well-versed in the lore but here goes...

Well, Malekith has at least some legitimate claim to the throne. By extension, if he gets power, she gets power if she's on his side. Supposedly. And I'm pretty sure he's still one of the most powerful mages of his time, rivaled only be Teclis (and the Slann of course).

There is also the fact that their relationship is not exactly... traditional parent child... as it is "deeper" in some messed up ways. So uh... yeah it's not as simple as her "loving" him. It's politics, ambition, manipulation and maybe a bit of Slaanesh-worshiping hedonism going on.

simple malekith was the son of the phoenix kingthe first one not imrik( which confuses me why isnt he a phoenix king anymore?) and morathi demands power and she can gain power by herself or rule over elves through her son

I think it's fitting for her. Also as a mother I understand all to well the willingness to forgive my children's worst screw ups. It's hard to explain I guess. As far as her lore putting this here for those who aren't familiar with her.

Errr... Loving mother is a bit of a weird flex.

She´s a supremely corrupting influence that has via Malekith sundered aguably the greatest civilization on the planet and turned near half of it into a society molded around betrayal, torture, bloodshed and slavery and actively working with the chaos gods to bring about the end of the world.

If anything she´s a supremely evil, ageless mastermind acting through her weak-willed but capable son.
Sure, there´s probably some maternal love and forgiveness in there, which just makes the character more interesting, but above all, Malekith is still her most potent agent in bringing about the end of the world and the rise of Slaanesh.

No. "Loving mother" is an accurate description of Morathi. She definitely "loves" Malekith. Like, literally.

That´s less canon and more "sweaty dreams of sweatier dorks"

No, Morathi does love Malekith, in her own twisted, yet maternal way.
All the Elves got screwed up by Chaos, they just exhibit no physical mutations, but they deteriorate mentally.

Morathi loves her son as much as she loves power, and often Malekith is both to her, since he is the King of the Dark Elves, and being the mother of the king is already a high political seat, in most monarchies.

She is the archetypical evil and vain witch, but that alone would be too plain and vague for Warhammer, so she is also a loving but uncomfortable mother, as much as she a political manipulator and an arcane monstrosity.

Keep in mind that, even if Morathi having sex with Malekith is no longer canon, she still quite loose in sexual matters in the lore.
Daemons, Elven Lords, Barbarian Chieftains... if it will give her something she desires, she will bed it.

Every dragontamer prince of Caledor is called Imrik. It's more a title than a name. So, he isn't a phoenix king because he died, and current one is another person.

With regards to canon, I only know the juiciest rumors.
According to my friend who basically knows the lore back to back.

She's a Thott.

Malekith ain't a useless brat. He's arguably one of the most powerful rulers in the setting, both as a leader and on an individual prowess level.

Morathi is like one of those loving but extremely manipulative mothers. She's pretty much the reason why the Sundering happened and Naggarythe got magical nuked.

Read the novel Tyrion & Teclis from Willian King. Anarion, Morathi and Malekith are main characters there.

What do you want to hear? Families sometimes tend to stick together, even when they reaaaly shouldnt...

I always understood that sentence as...being the mother of the Druchii and Malekith. I mean...it's basically all her fault, that the Dark Elves came about.
