The Shadow & The Blade Worth It?
Would you recommend this DLC? I haven't got "The Hunter & The Beast", "The Shadow & The Blade" nor "The Warden & The Paunch". Out of the three, which one do you think is worthwhile buying?

Depends on the factions you enjoy. Each DLC Is a must for the factions it features.

You are given a foothold in the other side of the map when playing as Malekith.

See I'm kinda more interested in the DE side of things more than the Skaven side, coming from finishing a Throt campaign I'm looking for a change.

You wouldn't recommend it?

They kinda missed the boat on Malus imho. Not that he is a bad lord but his mechanics aren't that good. ME start is a bit of a mess too. I'd check some gameplay of the campaign on youtube first.

Not essential at all.

I got all the DLC and the only ones I say that you need are WH2 + WH1 (If you want Mortal Empires), Prophet and the Warlock, and Blood and Gore. Oh, and all the Free DLC you can get.

Anything else is just fluff for factions you like.

I would pick The Warden & The Paunch (even though I like DE than HE) mostly because archmage on the dragon is really good. I am not the Empire and Lizard player so I dont really care about The Hunter & The Beast. I dont really like the new DE unit in The Shadow & The Blade so I won't buy it for now.

That is my opinion.

Eh I'd say it's worth it for the units

Honestly, Malus is better (read both objectively better, and less of a pain in the ass) if you confederate him than when you play as Hag Graef, which I believe you can do even without his DLC (not entirely sure though).

His starting position is crap as you don´t have much room to expand to due to most of the surrounding area being unsuitable climate for Hag Graef, and Malus is a bit bipolar and hard to work around, which can be either fun or obnoxious, depending on what you want from your game.

I would personally confederate him as Malekith and not worry about hit ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-meter.

malus' campaign mechanics got improved with the last dlc, its not such a pain anymore. You can confederate malekith turn 3 and crone turn 7 on any difficulty making for a nice campaign where you have most of the legendary lords early. dlc also adds decent but not great units for DE and the skaven side of it is worth it alone if you like the faction

The DLC adds Malus who starts on the other side of the map.

Issue is, while Malus himself is a freaking beast and can very well compete with the best LL in game due to Tzarkhan, his faction mechanic is rather limiting and worse, his climate suitability makes expansion limited to mountains mostly.

The Medusa units on the other hand are really good, no questions asked. The new chariot unit is okayish, not great, not terrible.

Best used is the dlc by playing another DE faction and confederating with Malus, sadly. But once you do, you have a murder machine who can solo entire armies by himself.

You should start with the basegame, considering you do not own it.

Should be mentioned that they made huge improvements to Malus faction mechanics in the patch with the wood elves rework.

You only get the annoying replenishment penalty on max possession now, every other tier is a bonus (just a different bonus depending on if you are possessed or not). So overall his faction mechanics are very powerful now since 90% of the time its just a buff to either your infrastructure or army (id even say that he clearly has the most powerful dark elf faction mechanics in the game now days and its not just annoying like it was).

So i highly advice people to try him again.
