snipe was introduced way later afaik. once enemy closes in, your waywatchers/waystalker/deepW scouts are visible.
they have big range. doubt that this is ai cheats. you gotta move units somewhat cose so u can see them, and forest stalker gives additional defense + accuracy bonus.
*(assuming its not player error in seeing what is happening)
But no, I was thinking maybe you were dealing with units that had Predatory Senses or similar.
Are you using any mods?
AI units do not get additional traits that players would not have were the roles reversed. Period.
But if they are behind a hill for example and have few units on your side of the hill, and you don't have units on their side or flyers then they still can shoot at you (because all units share LoS for spotting) but you can't see them.
That is aside of mods the only other explanation and that is what I'd call user error.
