I don't think they can be made OP. Or more specifically: the amount of effort required to make them good can make any other decent unit in the Skaven roster OP as well.

I feel that with the workshop upgrades and some disciplined heroes they do their role pretty well already ie hold a line with their abilities or break down walls and turrets.. They're expendable with upgrades so just let em die and re-recruit them

With the workshop upgrades, the warp grinders become the best melee based anti-infantry unit in the game (statwise at least, they are still too slow to chase stuff down so are useless vs ranged). They also can gank melee cavalry quite well (wait for the cav to start a charge, use the stun ability then countercharge). However, they die in a heartbeat to any AP ranged damage or monstrous creatures however, and are ALWAYS outshined by a good weapons team.

Tretch can buff all melee units in his own army by up to 26 MA and 26 MD. This of course include any warpgrinder he has, and if you confeded him while playing as Ikit, the result should be quite funny.

Yep. When I play with Tretch I replace my front line with grinders for the lawls. They literally grind up the opposition while my artillery and ranged finish off the rest.

usually tou get like +13 MA for retreat and another +13 MA for ambush, But where did you get that +26 MD from?

Yeah he doesn't give any kind of MD as far as i'm aware, tretch's raiders only buffs damage

*Melee attack. But still +13 melee attack alone sometimes it means like 1.5 times the damage output so yes tretch rules.
You get clanrats and stormvermin with attack values in the 50s.

by remembering it wrong and confusing it with another buff, probably.

No, tretch's raiders is a passive he can unlock that gives
+10% Weapon damage
+9 Melee attack
+10% Armour piercing damage in an aoe around him when they're winning melee combat
