If the outpost gave 300 gold I'd be stinking rich by the time I dealt with Naggarond.
Also don't focus on their expensive units. Their standard archer units deal with most things. When you can get the Armor piercing type you should build those instead. Add in some poison types as well. You now have a ridiculously powerful ranged army.
They have won most auto resolve I can throw at them with about 70% win rate or higher.
Don't bother defending outposts too much. The fact that the enemy lose everything and have to start over while you can just come again to wipe it back to 1 is a major advantage.
Also build all 3 money buildings on every tree. It'll be worth it.
I have done all that and I will still win the legendary campaign its just they got an update that made them far weaker than they used to be, as for not building outposts thats the whole play style, now and I think outposts should be able to at least field a 16 stack or so kind of like brets can.
You just want them overpowered dude. Wood Elves are great the way they are, you just wanna paint the map. Wrong faction for it.
Trust me I can paint the map with any faction and have done I mean right now you can turn 1 confederate 3 wood elf factions on legendary. Wouldn't recommend it but you can and so you can get a 20 stack turn 1. and the wood elves mechanics require you to use multiple armies to defend multiple forests and heathlands. The mechanic is not fun it's annoying, it makes you expand all over the place have more armies than you should need and fight wars you shouldn't have too.
If they want you defend multiple forests they should give you the income to do so, whats the point in having great units if like has been said you just stick to your basic troops. Imagine playing can moulder and not being allowed anything but slaves and clan rats
Whats the point in having tons of income after you've already won ?, the wood elf rework is just a nerf. The outposts should be able to defend themselves from a low level 20 stack without mass cheese and the wood elves should be able to get a decent income coming in, not high elf or dark elf levels but at least decent.
You get loads of money from razing and post battle loot. That is where I got the money. Befriend factions and trade for even more. And the best income comes from conquering Athel Loren fast. I got two forest first and then took over AL with only buffed dryads, wolves and spiders. I never had an outpost, because they are not worth defending.
But they do? It's super easy to maintain a somewhat high tier army per forest/tree you have. I'm playing them right now and although i'm pretty sure you're not meant to confed the majority of Wood Elves turn 1 (pretty sure it's a bug), it gives you a huge boost early game where you snowball ridiculously hard.
So no, I disagree. They should not be able to defend themselves from that much.
You can confed the lesser Wood Elf factions + sisters of twilight turn 1, just in diplomacy options. Most likely not intended, is a bug and will probably be fixed. But from the armies you get, you can put them all in one stack (waywatchers and such)
Yeah the tree is kinda small and 1/3 of the tech isn't really worth it.
