The trader and the wooden elf.
The two starting positions in athel loren can easily reach the ocean. But Drycha and the sisters need a long stretch of land in order to make trade through water viable.

Have yet to run sisters on mortal empires but Drycha the angry tree sits in a position amongst skaven vampires norsca and chaos. It is neigh impossible to establish trade with anyone unless the empire manages to solidify their rule somewhat.

So here is my idea. Let the elves use the world root connections for trade. This means you can trade with people you are connected too. Or make it so that when an elven faction holds the oak of ages that is their capital.

In my campagin the dwarves almost allow for trade but skaven assassins are locking me of and I can't afford another enemy atm. But had the world roots allowed for trade then I could have traded through the forest of gloom.

Well you can trade with the other human factions that surround you if you start fighting the Vampire Counts early game. By mid game all the human factions around me loved me for that. Or you can destroy the minor human elector counts around you so you border the emoire then declare war on the vampire counts. Kill Vlad and manfred enough times and empire will like you enough to sign a trade aggreement. The same goes for the dwarfs. Kill enough Vampires and destroy of some Azhags settlements and Dwarfs will accept a trade deal. Its all about making strategic choices on which settlements to keep for trade purposes and which ones to raze.

(In my opinion.)
