Question about Wood Elves and healing the forest.
To heal the forest do i have to OWN the settlement/city where the forest is at ? or can my ally own it?

Another question is, once i have fully healed the forest and did the rebirth ritual can i abandon the settlement and let my ally have it ? Will it keep the forest health to max?

The second question is more to do with the High Elves forest and the Lizardmen Forest in the Pools.

Nah, you want to keep the trees. Each one has massive map-wide bonuses. This is from owning the forest AND even more once you build a shrine after the ritual.

Each can be stocked with a decent sized army that benefits from upkeep reduction from the garrison building chain. Between that -15% upkeep and the upkeep reduction from blue line skills and research and your guard armies can just chill while your main stack goes out and razes cities around the map for profit.

You do want to eventually abandon the heathlands around each forest though. The exception to this is a line of connected outposts to a port so you can get this sweet trade deals.

The forest itself must be owned by you (at least I think so) And I have yet to see an npc do the healing ritual
The sorrounding areas to determine how well your tree is doing can be controlled by allies

yes you have to own the forest. Not even Elven allies will do the job.
To get the long victory you may have to do a little ...realigning

I think you can abandon it, but why would you?

The reason is for the High Elves island, since it has a forest where Alarielle The Radiant spawns and holds ground i was wondering if you can hold it(the player) then do the healing ritual and once the ritual is over you can abandon it since it will be permanently healed and leave it for Alarielle to hold the forest and defend it while being allies. (Same Idea for the Lizardmen forest in the Pools)

For avelorn there is a forest encounter that lets you give it back to Alarielle. But I don't know whether it will be available after its healed.

Either way the forests are more safe in the hands of wood elves than other factions.
