Zombies vs Skeletons?
Hey guys and dolls,

In early game armies is there any reason to use Zombies instead of Skeletons as the main line?

Not unless you're having money problems. Skeletons are cheap and weak, but zombies are dirt cheap and pretty much unable to make kills, meaning they will need more effective support from damage dealers.

For Kemmler with his Ravenous Dead banner and Ghorst with his buffs to zombies - maybe.

Otherwise I'd always go for skeletons, at least they also can kill a bit while they let the enemy nicely align themselves on their formation for a well placed wind of dead.

playing VC you want to research free skeleton upkeep after that the issue becomes moot. until then...im not sure, i think they are equally bad^^

Not even close. Zombies have 5 MA and 6 MD. Skeleton spearmen have 14 MA and 30 MD. They also have shields, more armor, charge defense vs. large and better weapon damage (with a bonus vs. large). And they're faster. Skeletons are superior to zombies in nearly every single category.

Like has been said, the only reason to use zombies over skeletons is if you can't afford skeletons and need more bodies in your army, or if you nee to raise a bunch of dead and zombies are the only thing available for the slots they're taking.

Always just go Skeletons they scale well until T3 GG provided you support them with Corpse cart/ranks and buffs for Zombies usage use spell raise the dead on backlines. Zombies are also slow and that alone is awkward with such a aggressive faction like Vcounts.

yeah obviously if you dont factor in cost go skellies. at cost they will beat skeletons

cant have undead armies without at least access to zombies. play with army cost cap mods and they become semirelevant again

They have their niche uses. Their Expendable trait alone makes them decent speed bumps to body-block enemy elite units and give your skellies a reprieve. And many a necromancer have escaped certain death by summoning a horde of zombies and just, walking away.

They simply can´t do their job as an infantry line because any opposing infantry will chop their way through them with full hp left on the other side.

Yeah but difference is, 2 of those 3 zombies will be dead at the end provided you can win. Skelis can actually survive a bit and you don't have to constantly raise them again

who cares there role is to absorb charges bog things down and absorb missiles while your monsters and elites do there job

there 100% expendable and the only unit in the game that is literally cheaper than skavenslaves

besides anything that kills a zombie will also kill a skele only difference is the skele will last a bit longer while costing 3x as much
