How to start skarsnik
I really love skarsnik but i have no idea how to get him rolling early on. I attack the dwarf stack, then recruit. But the stack just goes to the settlement along with another lord, and just recruits and sits there. Theres no way I can take it on, its 4 6 and 8, so thats 2 lords and 16 units of dwarves on turn 2. No way with goblins.

Skarsnik has lightning strike. You can use it on the dwarf camping outside the settlement. Then spam nasty skulkers they have AP and will wreck early game dwarves.

Did not know he had built in lightning-strike. Well that helps alot

I used to say travel to Red Eye Mountain, I wonder how that would work now you could make friends with Azhag and try help him conquer then try a confederation, or even just beat him in battle.
the thing that ends all my skarsnik campaigns is belegar, he always comes and attacks me and he has his underway ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ so he can teleport around and attack from anywhere, there's no choke points to defend. and even if I beat his stack, he keeps sending them. I can't handle it while I'm trying to fight the other dwarf faction

That sounds rough but I got ask you do you have any scheme's? I feel like this is important when playing as Skarsnik.

I have tried that. But when I try to expand the systemic plan to be large enough to attain a particular object, it's usually not large enough to put the particular idea into effect.

Actually all joking aside CA did such a really ♥♥♥♥ job with Skarsnik in the rework we could of had a scheme's panel or something when you get bonuses could manipulate factions etc.. His starting position is also garbage but his campaign flow could of been improved atleast...

Yeah man, Belegar in my Skarsnik campaign had 6 stacks, but not unbeatable but it REALLY slows the campaign down, to where Empire get really strong, really fast, and then im like, "Nah, I don't even have 8 peaks... Screw this"

But if I did take "8 peaks" early, Dwarves and Skaven destroy "Ard Boyz", and I am left surrounded by, about 3 Skaven clans ,and Dwarfs.

No thanks.

And most important of all: It's not even worth taking "8 peaks", because the special buildings just suck.

The big thing I find with Skarsnik is to get a LOT of night goblin archers (night goblin spider riders work too, so long as they're shooty) and give them Skarsnik's Death Juice. Then get however many black orc warboss heroes you can, because they tank WAY better than any night goblin can.

That death juice is way more powerful than it seems, due to the damage over time effect. Even if their armor works great and they only take 1 damage, they get death juiced, and are gonna take a good bit more than 1. And you just keep refreshing it, so they just keep taking damage from it. Poison that's not just a debuff.

Been a while since I played Skarsnik, but what I would do in this patch is; take out the first dwarf faction with lightning strike and nasty skulkers. Leave the skaven faction alone.

Then get some quick trolls and another stack of gobbos.

Abandon the starting province, migrate eastward to look for other greenskin faction leaders. Attack them on sight, win the fight, and force them to confederate.

I don't even go for 8peaks, I go for the whole badlands.

I never play skarsnik after patch but you need to rush Arachnarok spider previously. Before that you need to rely on nasty skulker and squik to deal enough damage. If you have artilleries and arachnarok you have much better chance.

With new buff to goblin, his nasty skulker should be able to kill the dwarf even on very hard, your only problem is the dwarf that turtling on top of their capital. Either bait them with L1 lord in force march with Skarsnik ambushing next to him or wait till they leave while hiding in ambush. Wood elf is very passive early game recently and with goblin update, his campaign is no longer the hardest. People will argue that Morathi campaign is far more harder than Skarsnik now.

With stone troll, you dont need to rush to K8P just to get black orc. Its much saver to sack and occupy empire capital instead to weaken them or wipe them completely. Angrund must die as early as possible. If he manage to conf with Thorgrim you will have a nightmare ahead of you.

found it easiest to have a full squad of nasty skulkers with skarsnik then begin to move towards the main settlement while getting a second hero and recruit 6+ nasty skulkers and it should be easy to take the problem comes when you move towards the last city as son as you take it you get a rebel attack then just fill the second hero with skulkers and take angrunds capital and it should be easy after that all you need after that is hero constantly in ambush near the wood elves since they will begin war but they rarely attack. if you need a huge 20k gold then try and raid one of their towns but dont bother holding it since it gives little and almost constantly negative order after that either take talia and sartosa or head for border princes and then have 1-3 armies head towards eight peaks and after that its up to you

though all this is before patch now i only play th emodwhich makes him start in eight peaks

Just a quick question, do nasty skulkers benefit from all of the goblin buffs. Like skarsniks buffs and the skill tree buffs. Ive always used regular goblins due to their higher armor.

Yes, they count as goblin units, so everything that applies to goblin infantry applies to them. Goblin and Night goblin are separate tags though.

Skarsnik's main buffs are to Night Goblins. He really cranks them up. Kinda like how Grom cranks up regular gobbos.

And even before you unlock any of his skillpoint buffs, any Night Goblin unit can be given the death juice upgrade for a measly 20 scrap.
