How to get more FPS on skaven benchmark ?
I'm just starting the game and I'm setting graphics first, I have a 980ti, i7 4690k and 8gb RAM (soon to be upgraded to 16gb I noticed this game likes eating RAM)

In the meantime on the skaven benchmark my lowest is only 21fps, highest is 60fps and the average is around 45fps.

It gets into the low 20's when the camera zooms into the melee at the end of the benchmark video.

Just wondering what settings might get me the highest FPS while still looking good. When zoomed right into the combat I'd like at least 40.

I think more RAM might solve this and hopefully I can crank everything up.

I click recommended settings and it puts everything on ultra, v-sync is off, FXAA is on but not x2 or x4 etc... anisotropic filtering is x8, depth of field is off and reflections are off.

Thanks.

"Unit details" has the most impact of FPS when there are lot of units on camera from a down angle level (such as when you zoom in or in those 8 seconds of Skaven benchmark around the end).

Set "unit details" to medium to have the biggest performance boost you can expect.

Note: Ram has nothing to do with Fps, CPU and GPU do.

New motherboard + CPU, GPU and ddr4 RAM
Have you got blood and gore on? Cos that causes a big hit to fps.

Set Unit Details to low, blood effects off, FXAA 1x, and shadows to high or medium. Those are the main settings that effect FPS. I found upgrading to 16gb helped somewhat, but mostly smoothly out campaign map.

Keep in mind the Skaven Benchmark is designed to really strain your machine, but actually gameplay will probably be smoother. 45 is a fine benchmark. Personally I would crank textures to ultra and just enjoy the aesthetics. That CPU in particular is pretty old, so don't expect too much more from this game.

That guy clearly hasn't earned a cent himself, hence no understanding of the value of money.

Or maybe he's earned a lot and dropping a few hundred on something he'll use for years isn't much of a problem for him.

This game can be quite demanding.

I have

i7 8700
RTX 3080 FE
16 GB RAM 3600 MHz

On the world map when I have a lot of cities the FPS will be around 40 too 50. Not sure why but it just will. Sometimes I have seen when a city is burning the FPS will tank like mad.

In a fight, it'll generally be fine at 75 FPS when it's just 1 full army vs another full army.

When I bring in two armies with a ton of melee units vs another army full of units? Yeah the FPS like to stay around 25 to 30 FPS then.

But this is on Ultra settings at 1080p.

Honestly you should be good with more ram. I have a weaker GPU and CPU but more ram, and get better performance then that.

Sacrifice a goat too. Its an important component to this ritual.

Unlikely considering he is a disgusting furry.

Have you seen how much a lotta those guys make? There's loadsamoney in that community. Though I guess we're getting a bit off topic now.

4670k here and it's fine. you've got a K chip, have you overclocked it at all?
Your CPU probably isn't the main issue, 16gb should get you some more juice.
As mazisky said, unit textures. Knock it down a peg.

I'm surprised you can even run it. On my old computer my game used to crash occasionally because I would run out of memory with 16 GB.

Haven't overclocked, don't know how and I'm not tech savvy and I'd be nervous about breaking something.
