Total War launcher: the endless struggle
Why does this launcher cause nothing but problems? I can't play a single Total War game because this stupid launcher refuses to open and yet Steam still says the game is running in my library and the launcher is present in my task manager. I fixed it sometime last week by starting Warhammer 1 and 2 simultaneously and bypassed the launcher somehow and when I exited the games the launcher miraculously started working for some reason. Fast forward a week when I restarted my computer I started having the same problem again only this time my previous fix no longer works. I am extremely fed up with this damned launcher and certainly won't be buying another Total War title until this stupidity is fixed.:steamsalty:

Agree. I fail to see why we have one if the games are only on steam so there is with it one already their.

Yeah this stupid launcher is literally the only thing stopping me from running any TW games.

Did you delete and reinstall the launcher itself yet?

How would I go about doing that? I'm pretty sure I've done it already as I've tried countless solutions already to no avail. Perhaps I missed something.

So just delete the launcher folder and then verify the game files to create another one?

I've done all of those things and unfortunately none of them solved the problem.

yes
Oddest ♥♥♥♥. Ive so many hours playtime and never once had any issues with the launcher. I have a gazillion other issues but the launcher is not one of them. Does it require net framework to work right? Could a bustet one of those cause havok with the launcher?

I have 6 titles but only warhammer 1 and 2 are installed right now. I've done fresh installs for all of them multiple times to no avail.

Yeah before I got this new computer a month ago I never had any problems aside from the multiplayer desync issues. I may have to re-download and install net framework perhaps that'll work.

It could have something that the anti-virus regards as suspicious and the launcher is prevented to start ?
I would suggest that you make an exception in your anti-virus for the launcher/game.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
