meatshieldsl; i.e. skavenslaves, zombies, units meant to soak up damage and tie up enemy units

Basically low tier units that are used to soak up damage and bodyblock

ideally something unbreakable or expendable: flagellants, peasants, goblins....

Something you won't mind losing, as others have said above.

Conversely, flagellants under a mid-level Arch Lector specced for them makes them far more dangerous than your average unit; as are any goblins under a mid-level Skarsnik/Night Goblin Warboss specced for them. They stop being chaff then.

Peasants are always throwaway though.

Some races rely on them more then other.

A unit with low upkeep, low recruit cost, low recruit time which takes a reasonable amount of time to break or be destroyed. They do not "hold the line" but rather provide a temporary obstacle for enemy units. Think Fell Bats tying up artillery preventing it from firing, or a unit of peasants getting demolished by a Dragon (which allows you to gank it with heroes and lords).

Any Bretonnian unit.

Skavenslaves are a perfect example.
Skaven slaves, cheap peasants, any weak ass cheap labour units to soak up damage, morale etc of the enemies to weaken then for your actual main forces.
