-20% upkeep while in the raiding camp stance. Often this'll save you money even if you're raiding your own lands. For some reason you seem to be able to enter it with 0% movement left in newer versions which means you can even enter it after occupying or razing a settlement.
-15% upkeep from the blue-line skill "Fueled by war"
-15% upkeep to marauder units if you start as Wulfric.
-20% upkeep to trolls if you start as Throgg.
-10%-ish upkeep again to trolls from the "King of Trolls" perk Throgg has.
+There's also strategic location in Erengrad, the port town at the innermost part of the body of water south of Norsca. It allows a building that reduces troll upkeep factionwide as I recall.
+There's a random event that can cause you to reduce marauder units upkeep by 15% for 15 turns-ish.
Sometimes of course it's just a matter of trimming out the more expensive units from your army where you don't really need it.
As I understand upkeep reductions are additive, so the more %-reductions you get the more important it is to choose units who you have price modifiers for. Such that it'll probably be more valuable to get a marauder horse or charriot than worry about having warhounds after you get some plunder halls going in terms of gold-to-combat-value ratio.
Lastly, if you enjoy playing on higher campaign difficulties, it might be worth getting a mod to reduce the supply lines modifier. It really hurts the Norsca gameplay to have 15% extra upkeep per army on very hard difficulty, far more than it matters to most other factions.
