Best mage LL?
Who is the best mage LL in the campaign, in your opinion?

Morathi or Teclis, depending.

Teclis has better spellcasting, but Morathi's an incredible combatant on top of being a powerful caster.

Teclis is the best pure magic character. Although I think he's actually best with a second caster in your army, because he just has so much winds and his spells are so cheap you can't spend it all.

Best overall, well if you count Malekith as a mage its him. But that's because of his combat ability, he can just solo armies by himself with straight up melee. Similar story with Mazdamundi, he's really powerful with regeneration on a stegadon.

If we exclude monstrous mounts (including Malekith's chariot), where the power isn't really from the mage but just from monstrous mounts being powerful, I'd say its between Teclis, Morathi, and Fey. Morathi has good winds and good support abilities, and she's really tanky. Teclis has the best overall magic. Fey enchantress will get a ton of kills from mist of the lady and is quite tanky in campaign.

Allarielle is also pretty good, the combination of healing magic with the shield of saphery passive kind of makes your units just never die. Teclis has the mapwide healing, but he doesn't have earth blood which I think is better in campaign than regeneration (except for early on you usually don't have 1-2 key units like in MP, you just spam high tier units and earth blood has better overall healing).

In short, I'd just say Teclis because things get weird when you start including combat abilities like Morathi's.

Tss.....

Isabella offcourse.

Teclis lacks any reasonably offensive spells and is more of a support whereas Morathi's lores are just so-so to the point I prefer Malekith more.

But Vampire lore is just tasty in each and every regard.

Manfred is pretty strong, but that is mostly due to his lore.

If we are talking pure mage, it's Teclis. He has some of the best spells of multiple lores, free casts of High Magic's ridiculous phoenix spell, multiple spell passives and nearly as much miscast reduction as Mazdamundi.

An odd thing to say since I'm reasonably sure Morathi is one of the weakest combat LLs in the game. Teclis is too, but he's somewhat powerful in combat even before you get equipment that mitigates damage thanks to his heals and some of the effects of his spellcasting passives.

Agreed. Morathi is hardly a power-house or "an incredible combatant."

Morathi is kinda garbage in a fight at the start, BUT once she gets all her items she can debuff everything around her to an insane degree just by existing, and her mount+items give her good enough mobility and stats that she becomes a fairly solid fighter even before accounting for the utterly ridiculous debuffs. -18? MA to everything in a large radius is just bonkers, even without casting a single spell she can alter the flow of battle more than pretty much any other lord.

You don't really need to light up a target with big neon lights saying "melt me" as the High Elves. You just have to point your Sisters of Avelorn in their general direction and anything noteworthy will melt instantly.

No need for some fancy light magic net.

Mazdamundi is pretty damn great, Teclis has that winds discount, so those two probly the contenders for first place.
But you know Gelt aint bad either, for most ppl hes hardly the best, but i tend to give him couple of extra points, just for style

Because he has the best damn spell in the game: Net of Amyntok. Wind of Death requires that all the stars align to be even moderately useful due to its high magic cost and cool down while Net of Amyntok is cheap, low cooldown, active for a long duration and turns their most expensive unit or lord into a stationary target with neon lights that say "melt me" over their head.

*Edit: Also, the recent Phoenix they gave him makes him ridiculously mobile now.
"All the stars to align". I mean, teclis is better, and even if Vampire Lore was really that amazing that it overcomes all Teclis's bonuses, she's not the best Vampire Lore caster.

But, its pretty damn easy to get all the stars to align. Like what "all the stars align" means is basically just for the enemies to be standing clumped up in a line. The ai lines up for you by default. They literally start the battle that way. and you can very easily get them to lump even more.

Read the OP. "in the campaign". Net is not the best spell in campaign. And winds of death is not even remotely hard to hit.

Chain lightning is the reason why teclis is better than vampire casters in campaign. Not net.

Teclis, naturally. And he just got a pheonix mount, too.

Wurrzag's pretty great with that stomp.

Teclis for magic.

Malekith for best allrounder. He regularly kills half the enemies army on his own for me.
