Question: Barded Warhorse
Let's say I want to skill an Empire Captain to be good at charging into enemy units and I'd pair him up with a unit of Cavalry / Shock Cavalry wherever he goes. Would I want a Warhorse, which is light and fast, or a Barded Warhorse that's slower but has more armor? More importantly, does the Barded variety get any bonuses to charging attack?

i mean you can just look at the stats and see for yourself

you want him to be fast enough to keep up with your other cav so if the barded horse makes him slower than other empire cav then there is your answer

Where are the stats for the mounts shown?

When you hover over the mount on the skill tree your stats in the upper left will reflect whatever the baseline stats of the mount is.

This has confused many people into thinking mounts are much worse, since it's baseline stats on that mount that are shown minus all the skill bonuses you have. Still shows bonuses from tech, though.

I believe if you hover over the skill unlock for the mount, it will alter the hero/lord's stats, you can hover and unhover (is that a word?) to see the differences in stats. Not all mounts provide positive bonuses across the board, so take that into consideration. i.e. your Capt. will for sure gain + to charge bonus but may lose in another stat.

If in the skill tree you over this mount or another one, you'll see the same character(you lord) but there will be 2-3 green line and 2-3 red line. It shows what you are giving up for what you want will get.
An even better comparison is with an unmounted lord comparing "to mount" the 2 options.

Edit; I'd advise for a faster lord in most case, unless you want a "real" brawler.
Your general isn't there, in most case, to kill all enemy, but carry on the campaign and support the troops.
... In most cases

And well, the two above me also said it well.
