What does "Enables ___ Attacks" mean?
I see equipment and trait that say "Enables Magic Attacks" or "Enables Poison Attacks".
What do they mean though?

Makes an attack magical so that it ignores physical resist and things like that. And for enables poison attacks it just gives your attack the abillity to give any enemy hit the poison debuff.

Magic attacks ignore Physical Resistance and are reduced by Magical Resistance (where as non magical attacks are the reverse). I think generally speaking this is an advantage, because PR tends to be higher than MR, and it can huge against some units like Ethereal units that have big PR scores. However it can also be a disadvantage if a units MR is high, e.g. I believe Dwarves have base MR so it can lead to less damage against them.

Poison attacks inflict a debuff when they deal damage; it's basically -damage - speed/vigour.

Flame attacks have no basic effect, however some enemies are vulnerable or resistant to them. E.g. anything with Regeneration has I believe a -20% fire resistance.

Thanks! When it say "Enables" does it mean I can toggle it on and off at will somehow or are my attacks on that lord transformed forever?

Trait is permanent. Equipment will remove the effect when un-equiped

Alrighty, thanks for the confirmation. Weird that the game doesn't let me choose at will but I guess I won't much be at war with Dwarves as Empire.

You can see the stat on the left. If you equip something and it changes the attack quality, little icons will show up beside the attack skill. You can mouse over those icons to get details

But the trait is on the character, not an equipment, no?

Depends.

Weapons can have it and traits in the character skill tree can have it.

Character skill traits cant be removed but equipment can.

Oh I see, I've yet to see it assigned to a weapon yet, only to lords so far, hence my confusion.

Oh ♥♥♥♥. I always assumed fire did more damage.

Its a confusing system at first.
Basicly any enemy that regenerates has as he said - resistences to fire and takes more.
So mainly undead and some monsters.

Be careful that the poison attack overwrites the original character attack trait, like Discouraged and Blinded.
