Best mage builds for Elves/Yvresse?
Hi all,

I'm currently in an Yvresse campaign; it is great fun but also difficult. So far I've used wizards only as agents on the strategic map but now I'm starting to employ them in battle as well. I'm trying the different schools of magic to find out which I find most useful. So far I have seen that fire mages can be seated on a giant flying lizard that spews hot bile around, while all other mages can only drive a horse cart. This seems to me a great advantage in favour of the fire wizard.

Which mages would you get in your elf campaign and how would you develop them?

Life, fire and light are imo the best choices. Development is pretty much straight forward. Life mages need healing spells, light needs net and vortex spell and fire needs vortex and other areal effect spells.

every school of magic has its uses.

personally i prefer life (for the healing which has the perfect synergy for HE's martial prowess)

As Yvresse, it's basically mandatory to include a Light wizard.
Net of Amuntok, overcasted for the area of effect, will be the most useful spell you can pair with your archers.

After that, Lore of Life is particularly good for sustaining your big units.

Lore of Fire is great to deal aoe damage to large quantities of lightly-medium armored enemies. It also unlocks a dragon mount for archmages. So it's the damage dealing magic of choice.
