But seriously though, practice with Shock Cavalry because Bretonnia is a cavalry focused faction despite what certain individuals on this forum will say.
Bretonnia is about Micromanagement, if you just send your Cavalry in without any thought you're going to have a bad time. Shock Cavalry is meant to cycle charge and not meant to sit there and fight like a normal melee unit.
Of course you could also just do Trebuchet spam, but at that point you might as well just play as a more Artillery focused faction.
What you want to do with both Repanse and Henri is go down gold line a bit to tank them up. They're beastly on their own, but they'll still get worn down "out of the box" as it were, so a few extra points in MD/armor will go a long way.
From there, you have to run them out ahead of your army far enough that the AI doesn't aggro on your foot troops/cav, but close enough that your trebuchets can fire on them. Try to keep them close enough together so Henri's Guardian aura gives Repanse a little more defense. From there, ground fire your artillery danger close on Repanse/Henri, as they'll be surrounded by a pool of clumped up enemies. If you don't know how to ground fire, it's alt+right click, I believe.
Your army's only job from there is to handle everyone that gets by them. Mainly, to protect the trebuchets. Your trebs should be racking up 400-500 kills on Large unit sizes for these early fights.
As for your army, I'd just fill it out with Men-at-Arms for a while; or even just peasants and scrap the recruitment building for eco if you want.
You can also hire a Prophetess of Life to follow Repanse's army, but without a mount, she'll be susceptible to getting gooned if she tries to get close enough to heal them, so be careful with her and get her a mount ASAP.
Don't forget Vows and Troths on Lords/Paladins. You'll pretty much always take the same ones: Level Up 5x, Win a Desert Siege Battle, Kill Lord 5x. Only deviate from this if you see the victory condition.
Pro-tip: With sea encounters (the things you can move over for treasure), move over them in Forced March speed (Flank/Full Speed on sea). If it's just a buff, you'll get the buff. If it's something where you'd have to fight an army, a pop up will appear saying "Sea Location of Interest". That means there's a fight there. Remember that spot, and hit it when you want to do someone's second tier vow (Pledge of Manaan, I think it's called; win a battle at sea).
Take Khemri before T10. Once that's done, mass trebuchets.
If you're playing on Normal or Easy, just use cavs later on, nothing is more fun than watching your godlike cavs just crash into units and hold a line while your other cavs maneuver around and sandwich enemies to death. All while enemy artillery get shut down by your flying cavs. No other faction can do this.
Also, when enemies start fielding monsters and flyers, your trebs and archers will get massacred.
