NO LORDS IN CUSTOM BATTLES SO WE CAN TEST UNITS
This is something I wanted with the previous game but never got and had to rely on mods that made all the units lords.

but with so many armies and units comming in mortal empires, i think we really need this now. Officially.

If you are familiar with each race and such, you get a very good idea of what beats what and what is better. For example, phoenix guard are probably the most effective anti-large infantry out of both games. Shades are very good AP missile infantry as well as being very good fighters. Swordmasters are better than greatswords, wildwood rangers, foot squires, and hammerers but will probably be around the same as chosen with great weapons and black orcs. Etc etc etc.

why, in shogun 2 we just kept the general back and let the units do the fight. As long as the lord his circle doesn´t reach the unit there is no battle influence at all

But the enemies general gets stuck in, and they have influence and are MUCH mpre powerful than Shohun 2 generals

But the enemies general gets stuck in, and they have influence and are MUCH mpre powerful than Shohun 2 generals

Best solution is probably creating a mod that sets generals speed to zero.

so it is testing against an AI. You can´t test units like that, you have no controle over where you engage. Who gets off the charge, who braces for the impact,...
Always test units with a player. Full controle over every thing that matters.

Which is why I don't test. Game experience determines what is good at what in different situations, especially since you will never get perfect conditions in an actual battle

There is currently a mod on the workshop that does this. I am at work right now otherwise I would find it for you and link it here, but it is there.

I'd like it to not have to make all the unit's lords, that helps for the base game, but not when using mods that add in new units.

also i like stretching and condensing my units formation to see how much longer they last or how much faster they're killing.

things like how much longer will your unit last against a bad match up if they're bunched together instead or in a long line.

seems the easier option would be to just make lords optional in custom battles.

I guess i was the only one who thought this would be useful

this honestly seems the best option if the Total War devs won't do this simple fix

Just intercept thier lord with your Lord. It works most of the time.

I did test who is the strongest infantry vs infantry unit that way.

"sigh" yeah, thats what i've been doing, making the lords ride flying mounts and get the other one to chase my lord while the units duke it out :/
