What affect does artillery have on shields?
Shields block a percentage of arrows, but what about artillery damage? I just want to make sure.

Edit - Consensus is that a shield has no effect on an explosive cannon ball or any artillery. Just wanted to make sure there was no strange game mechanic there. Thanks!

What shields do specifically is block a percentage of missiles.

So try and imagine you hold up your shield as someone fires a cannonball at you, and that's pretty much how it works in game.

They block small arms fire only.

shields do nothing vs explosive and artillery fire. Vs missiles they randomly block some, with a percentage chance to do so. So while a 55% shield should on average block 55% of shots, you may randomly luck out/get super unlucky and take way more/less damage from small arms.

Nothing, a shield won't stop a cannon ball or a stone lobbed into the sky.

My brother's try blocking a cannon ball shot 200 miles per hour from 40 yards with a shield.

He died. I hated him anyway so I didn't mind.

In Rome I, I once thought to myself "Can a teustudo formation block a ballista bolt?"

Protip - it does not.
