It really changed my approach to the game and unit selection and made me value the choices I made, at least until I conquered my enemies and then shattered my alliances through betrayal and then ran them all over with my DOOM WHEELS and then shot and burned anyone left with my ratling guns and warpfire throwers!
I mean once you go Rat, you never go back. Especially with Ikit.
Not Queek (sandwiched by Lizards) or Tretch (sandwiched by HE & DE) - the latter can be quite hard on higher difficulty.
That leaves either Snikch or Skrolk.
Have yet to play Skrolk in Vortex, so I can comment on that one. But he is a machine....
If the script is not modified, that gives you at least 15 turns to prepare and then it has a 5% each turn for the AI to get a blessed spawning, which is the unlock condition. (money should not matter for the AI)
In 15 turns you can do a lot of sneaky stuff with Skaven, yes-yes! (like razing a few settlements and let the lizards re-take it for epic casualties....hmm, not quite sure if single-entity monster are affected)
I usually go straight for an Engineer and chain-block it, 'til am in the mood to take them out...takes a bit o' luck, but works in most cases.
edit: it's not like Skaven could instantly create a Tier 5 settlement....blasphemy, who ever said that! ^.^
That's specifically ME, I haven't played them in vortex for so long I have no clue how hard/easy they are.
I've never seen an AI skaven faction become powerful in Vortex which I think says a lot about how easily they get isolated and picked off by the power blocs of other factions.
