Is the Rogue Idol worth it?
So I've seen a few threads on the normal (non RoR) Rogue Idol and apparently it has been a touchy topic to a few people. I want to start this off by saying I am just looking for your guys' views and opinions on it.

So I'm playing Grom and was thinking I would try out the Rogue Idol. I have been using it for a little while but only from the summon on the Nigh Goblin Shaman. So it degrades over time and I'm not able to see it use the multiple stages of Rubble and Ruin. I was looking over the stats and was surprised to see everything so low in comparison to other large entities such as the Giant for example. So a question I have is, does the Rubble and Ruin ability make up for the lackluster (again in comparison) preliminary stats? I see that it does the bombardment and gives extra AP damage but it also loses a bunch of armor at the same time (which other than health is the main benefit over the Giant). How does this play out? Are the additions really that much of a game changer to warrant the price? Should I just go for a Giant or a Spider? When would I use a Rogue Idol over the others? I'm at a crucial stage of my campaign so I figured I'd ask here first.

rogue idol is a tank ( atleast i'm using him more as a tank then damage dealer)

while the giant is the damage dealer

basicly how i see the idol is. the absord so many resources from the enemy to bring it down while it deals some damage back in the meanwhile while the idol is geetin focused you can do other stuff with your army

It's great in sieges. I basically use it to push the main gate and found it extremely good at that.

I found them too slow, but still worth it, they are able to dish out huge amount of damage. The RoR version is really good, a siege weapon w/ basically no ammo cap. In my Grom Vortex campaign I had the RoR, 2 normal idols, the Spider Queen, the lava and 2 normal arachanrok, archers, doom-divers, the Hag and a gobbo warboss. I was unstoppable.

Long story short: they are good and worth it imo.

They look cool too.

Maybe 1-2 an army but that's enough. Just throw one into them and bunch the enemy up and throw some spells and volleys down. Boom 2-4 unit cards gone.

If you push your Idols into a frontal charge, the enemy tends to overcommit and send couple units per Idol. Excellet for abusing the AI when you want to spam Foot of Gork. Simply put, massive tank units work best with massive AoE spells.

i grabbed 2 and they kinda maul face for large infantry clumps, they gather up so many folks trying to kill them and just smush away.
yes especially in campaign wher you can buff them to 50% physical resistance with wurzag (i think even higher with grom if you know what you're doing).

I haven't used it yet but I imagine it's going to be very useful. I believe before release during a test a youtuber did it defeated the phoenix guard RoR one on one and losing not even half it's HP I believe. So if properly supported and used against infantry that is far squishier I'm sure it will be devestating.

Rogue (not Rouge, which means Red) Idols are like Giants, but universally better and more expensive.

It is always worth it to have at least one, preferably two, in every army.

Best tank unit, 1 is good enough to disrupt enemy formation or setbup for the foot as your gobbos circle or soaking up, ammo.

Typo.

Eh I love me a good tank but they are so very, very slow that it severely limits their utility.

I was iffy about them due to speed, but in sieges they are actually amazing. I had one get 409 kills against Empire garrison. Its sheer toughness and amount of HP means it soaks damage, and does a lot of kills besides, but also lets your casters deal with the enemy when they blob.

Got to be careful of AP missiles though especially handgunners as they will wreck it if they can fire at it.

How?
They just crash through Infantry like it is nothing, and absorb arrows like a they are a soft breeze.
Being slow is the only thing holding them down from being brutally OP.
