So your armies are always free.
On the other hand your standard units are subpar, your economy is garbage and you are limited to only having as many armies as you have Tomb King leaders and you only get one every 15-20 turns if you research them.
So how to play Tomb Kings is, CAREFUL.
You are very vulnerable in the in early game because most armies will beat you 1:1.
So your goal is to get 2-3 armies running as fast as possible to gang up on enemies and to reach the higher tier constructs and monster units.
On the other hand, losing a army or two here and there is no big deal, they are just back in a few turns with a full force.
In the late game Tomb Kings are pretty much one of the strongest factions army wise.
IF you survive till then.
Ok I see. So just don't be aggressive in the early game. Now I understand more.
Also you must make sure you are mustering high rank units, indeed everytime you research a dynasty you should enact Incantation Of Tahoth(time it) its essential for ranks and the casket of souls. Recruiting hero's with ranks is also good and using the province edict for rank. Basically stack the ranks together with the red skills the lower tier tomb kangz garbage gets decent, the exception is the godawful carrion.
that means your economy is gonna be trash to balance this out unless you sack and raid a lot, but the only thing you really spend money on are buildings so you can get those higher tier units. money can help in diplomacy too, but you really want those high tier units. if your army gets destroyed, you can just recruit a new stack relatively quickly, which is nice. just make sure other armies don't ♥♥♥♥ up your buildings, because with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ economy, rebuilding everything will take a lot of time.
their play style is pretty fun, but kinda micro heavy. i'm still around turn 20 with khalida, but your general gameplan is to use skeletons as meat shields and then flank with cav/chariots/nehekara and shred with your archers. you have 90 archers per unit too which helps with their dps. the necro knights and sepulchral stalkers are awesome units that khalida starts with if you go that route. she gives her army poison attacks too which is neat.
I find that Tomb Kings early games rely a lot on your decent archers and good chariots. Later on their constructs are indeed beasts that tear everything apart (Their constructs are monsters, they don't really have any monster units that aren't constructs).
But they are a rather unique faction, you wont have a lot of money, but your armies are free just requiring buildings to unlock slots and research to get more lords. So you don't really have to worry overly much about losing troops (since they cost you nothing).
So as long as you hang on until your settlements level up and/or your research reaches the state were you get more armies you tend to succeed.
To any new players... I might set up a big game for all of us.... I love playing as the skaven. They set up secret bases under other races city’s.... they are SO FAST and we are powerful in numbers... plus stormvermin and gutter runners have been my obsession ever since I got to kick major ass with them in blood bowl. Bro’s I’m about to re buy blood bowl 2 since it’s like 4$ right now.
Here is what helped me a lot understand various factions.
He also did a video on the best infantry in the game and surprisingly the Tomb Kings ranked very high and don't cost a whole lot.
And archers are capped so go for the archer upgrades quickly too so i can do better with them?
As well as doing like 2-3 armies in an attack?
What about tomb heroes? Is Settra really good period or is he lower on the scale? The warlock one, the fourth one looked fun but I didn't care for him.
Chariots can be really good (Tomb kings being a excellent faction to use them since you don't have anything else that is good early on), but they require a ton of micro.
Did a basic search on youtube to find a guide:
Guess I'll just have to practice more. I was doing deceny as Settra until i got angry at an npc taking a city i wanyed lol.
