Camera controls, a bloody nightmare.
I don't even understand how this made it out into market, these controls are atrocious.

Freelook doesn't appear to work, and I was forced to google just to figure out what button (middle mouse button) to hold down.

Well with my mouse middle mouse doesn't work for that; the camera flies around the map insanely and I have no control.

The way it should be:
I should be able to hold a keyboard button down and move the mouse to control the camera.

In it's current state, I can't even play this game, it's like I'm trying to perform surgery inside a burlap sack in the dark.

I am also blown away at the non-sale price of this game, with such janky controls and the lack to customize them.

Very unimpressed and quite saddened.

You can use WASD to move camera around on campaign or battlefield.+SHIFT makes it go faster.

There is also a mod called "Better Camera Mod". The reason it is at top of most subscribed list must have a reason...

One thing you should know though, using the mod will make it a little more tedious clicking various things on campaign map.

Have fun!

WASD is fine, what I need to be able to do, is rotate the camera so I can look at things, via the mouse.

It blows my mind that a RTS as massive and in-depth as this, as well as how popular it is, has the worst controls ever.

As it is now, I am forced to floaty float unable to look in directions I want and control the camera like a real 3D game.

I play with my right hand on the mouse and my left hand spread across WASD. It feels very intuitive and comfortable in my opinion but I suppose I've had a lot of practice.

Q.E?

I am sure that works on campaign map and you can zoom in/out at will.

I forget default view key sorry.

I kind of move the mouse at the same time as pressing the directional buttons.

It's not moving around the map I have an issue with, its that I can't control where the camera is facing, via the mouse.

Like all the other 3D games in the universe; you hold a button down, and move the camera freely aiming it however you like.

If I can't see or control what I'm trying to view, I effectivly can't play the game.

That doesn't work for me, my mousewheel is hyper sensitive and I also can't really hold that button down and move the mouse (severe physical wrist issues).

If I could bind that to a button on the keyboard, that would solve the problem. But I can't because someone is a moron when it comes to keybinding coding.

Q.E. to rotate...games like Age of Mythology and ALL the other total wars hd similar systems and I never had an issue.

So you floaty float at a set position and rotate slowly around using keys, instead of using freelook?

That's like trying to play a game by lookout out a tiny window.

If I could simply bind the freelook button to a keyboard button, it would resolve the issues. But as I keep mentioning, I can not because the developers don't know how to do that and have admitted to the fact on their forums.

Anyway since I literally can't play the game (as I mentioned, bad wrists) I think I'm gonna have to refund it.

maybe use debug camera, you can change a file somewhere i cant remember which

Ok using autohotkey I was able to basically rebind the middle mouse button to another button.

Blows my mind they can't manage to add this into the game.

It took me a LONG time to adapt to it. I actually didn't play for years cause it was so confusing and a depature from the way most games play.

In time, you'll get used to it too if you plan to continue playing.

I don't need to get used to anything, I fixed it using a third party software to override inputs. Now I can freely move the camera in 3D like how it should be.
