I should be able to hold a keyboard button down and move the mouse to control the camera."
You can use WASD to move camera around on campaign or battlefield.+SHIFT makes it go faster.
There is also a mod called "Better Camera Mod". The reason it is at top of most subscribed list must have a reason...
One thing you should know though, using the mod will make it a little more tedious clicking various things on campaign map.
Have fun!
It blows my mind that a RTS as massive and in-depth as this, as well as how popular it is, has the worst controls ever.
As it is now, I am forced to floaty float unable to look in directions I want and control the camera like a real 3D game.
I am sure that works on campaign map and you can zoom in/out at will.
I forget default view key sorry.
Like all the other 3D games in the universe; you hold a button down, and move the camera freely aiming it however you like.
If I can't see or control what I'm trying to view, I effectivly can't play the game.
That doesn't work for me, my mousewheel is hyper sensitive and I also can't really hold that button down and move the mouse (severe physical wrist issues).
If I could bind that to a button on the keyboard, that would solve the problem. But I can't because someone is a moron when it comes to keybinding coding.
So you floaty float at a set position and rotate slowly around using keys, instead of using freelook?
That's like trying to play a game by lookout out a tiny window.
If I could simply bind the freelook button to a keyboard button, it would resolve the issues. But as I keep mentioning, I can not because the developers don't know how to do that and have admitted to the fact on their forums.
Anyway since I literally can't play the game (as I mentioned, bad wrists) I think I'm gonna have to refund it.
Blows my mind they can't manage to add this into the game.
In time, you'll get used to it too if you plan to continue playing.
I don't need to get used to anything, I fixed it using a third party software to override inputs. Now I can freely move the camera in 3D like how it should be.
