To raze or not to raze.. morality or not? (Lore person drop in please)
Just took Skavenblight. I usually occupy cities rather than raze them-more humane and easier on by takeover/colonization budget for a province.

When I saw the map for Skavenblight I even thought it looked neat. After the battle I could occupy for 10k gold or burn it for 30k. It cost 6k to colonize plus a bunch of general troops leaving an army but still worked out goldwise.

Was it better to burn it or not? I may have destroyed a bunch of neat Skaven tech. On the other hand the place could've been a disaster waiting to happen so clearing it before rebuilding could be the best thing for the land.

I play plenty of other factions as well and if I was the empire I would've conquered it. This time I'm playing as wood elves and the skaven joined with beastmen of all factions in a war against me. Thus I cannot build as large a settlement on Skavenblight as other factions in this play though. Lorewise I'm pretty sure Wood Elves wouldn't want skaven screwing up the land, but I razed it for the money.

Right or wrong call according to however you guys see the factions?

I'm pretty sure even a skaven going to war and capturing skavenblight would raze it.

Everything the Skaven have touched needs cleansing. And Skavenblight is ... well, the very ground zero of those vermin.

Empire, Wood Elves, High Elves, Dwarfs, Lizardmen, Tomb Kings, Bretonnians...all should burn it, raze it down to the ground, sprinkle it with holy water, fill every hole and burrow with earth from a more fertile and better place, raze it again for good measure, leave it be under severe surveillance for another hundred years - and then maybe settle there ...

Ratmen? They don't exist.

Just to add, that sounds like a proper Warhammer answer.

I think that only goes for humans.

Razing had a purpose in game 1 when you couldn't take over everything.
Now? I just never raze. Climate suitability is a suggestion.

Lorewise? Wood Elves would not even want to travel to Skavenblight or have anything to do with it.

If they were really forced to, they would burn it to ashes, go back to their forest and never speak of it again.
