So if a unit has 20 regular damage and 10AP and a bonus vs large/infantry of 9, 6 of it would be regular, 3 would be AP.
But the the damage bonus is noticeable though. I have had High Elf Spearmen fend of Chaos Knights and seen High Elf Rangers (who have Anti-Infantry) go toe to toe with Chaos Warriors and handle themselves well.
I think Armour Piercing is just a different damage bonus
only thing that can block AP damage are resistances
