Feral carnosaur vs lord/hero on carnosaur, just stats or is there more (animations)?
So I've been wondering whether I should bring hero's on carnosaurs vs feral carnosaurs (in campaign). Stat wise, and considering that it's campaign, hero's seem make more sense. It's basically the feral carnosaur with better stats, less rampage and more abilities. But I did notice that the feral carnosaur seems to do some brutal unique animation that I haven't seen on the lords/hero's before. The feral carnosaur sometimes literally jumps into the air and smacks dragons onto the ground etc. So this really made me wonder. Is this just a fun animation that does no more damage than a regular attack from a lord/hero on a carnosaur? Or do these animations actually do something? Do they actually deal more damage? Or can they, for example, 'pin down' a foe that might have otherwise have gotten away?

well animations definitely give value to a unit but no animation in the game "with the exception of the deathmaster whos animations seem to do damage 2x" give a unit more damage than its WS would otherwise say it does

it does lock both units in place during the animation though, which is both a blessing and a curse, since it's your monster that you may want to remove from the fight but is kept locked at the wrong place due to it.
Add to that the fact that feral dinos enrage and they'r ereally less reliable than heroes.
They don't need to be leveled up or equiped so they come ready to do their job as a strong anti lrge, that's their advantage, but a high level hero brings a ton more than them.

Although blessed carno are a different story.
when an elite unit has perfect vigour its value skyrockets.

Heroes are better than the units for sure, since you can skill them up a bunch. Im fairly sure that a lot of those cool animations(which dont do more damage btw) are present on any unit that includes a carnosaur, theres sync animations for quite a few wh2 monsters, but they rarely occur.

Hmm ye I guess that makes sense. The situations where the locking in place happens at just the right time will probably be very minimal at best. It probably doesn't outweigh the benefits that hero's on carno's bring. I didn't think about blessed carnosaurs having perfect vigour yet, that's quite interesting.

blessed carno's are a beast (hueh hueh) with that perfect vigor and speed they can chase units around to their hearts content happily chomping away.

i would probably go: Hero = Blessed Carnasaur > Feral Carnasaur for my order, just from feel though
