We can now assign AI control to reinforcements!
Oh my god it has finally happened! No longer will we have to bounce between two 20 stack armies on opposite ends of the map! THANK YOU CA!! Keep making this game great!

yeah I used it today with a backup army and it actually followed me on the door I went to on siege rather than going on its own. I'll have to try it more.

I might try it at some point in an easy/unimportant battle to make sure the AI doesn't just suicide all my units.
Don't love not having control over my characters, particularly spell casters. But I could see it being useful for a garrison army that's reinforcing.

hehe nice !

It sounds nice until you realize that the ai will just suicide its units.

It's nice in the fact that you can use it to field 4 stacks at the same time in a battle, in which case your numbers should be so overwhelming that the AI can't really kill your units.

That said, limit the number of cav/flying units you give it to control because it will just suicide rush them. Or anything it can cause a lot of friendly fire with for that matter.

Overcast Wind of Death right down your front line xD

Fanatics.
Always fun if your ai-ally has them.

So it's only good for cavalry or monster or melee to a.i for you?
Lunos May 22, 2020 @ 10:49pm
The AI helps a lot if you have too many units to reasonably micro and just want to overwhelm the enemy with sheer weight of numbers. Though the AI is pretty decent with cavalry freeing you up to micro other things.

nice , will have to try ;)

It's nice for Waagh armies, where I simply don't care if they die during sieges, they can overwhelm the enemy while I do the important work. If it's your 2 lord armies, I wouldn't try it on higher difficulties when it matters. The AI will always underperform with massive losses, maybe unless those are micro intensive armies, like skirmish cav archers.

Yeah I had another battle last night where I tried AI control again. Two times on the same battle. My reinforcements failed to get to me on time. Which is weird because the enemy reinforcements reached me first, and they were way further than my own. The third time I had to control the army myself just to make them run to me and reach me in time.

I have done a few battles just assigning the computer to control my waaagh mobs. It has been working brilliantly actually. Especially in siege battles.

Also this horrible and glorious mess of Imrik's final beat down was just too fun.

AI for your army is dumber than the enemy AI, thats for sure. Suicide tactics(or lack of tactics) and somehow they tend to just wait at the reinforcement area after they join the battle. Maybe they can scale AI capabilities with Lord level?

That said im quite happy for having this option. Really hate having to micro big armies. Besides, the bad AI its not a big deal since my AI reinforcement armies usually compose of cheap basic infantry and ranged.

I watched my brother do a battle with his Greenskin army where he gave his Whaaagh to the AI, it just kept standing on the edge of the map out of battle while his main army was fighting on the other side of the map. It's cool that we got the option but I sure hope this was a one time fluke.
