Though you can uninstall game 1 after downloading it.
I own both games. To get mortal I didnt need to install 1; im asking how I can get the DLC for 1 without installing it.
(I’m running this on a decent enough laptop for the highest settings with no drops but the memory storage is absolute dog turds, only about 500gb)
You -have- to download both games once for ME to work, then you can uninstall game 1
Just for future reference, I didn’t have to install WH1 to play mortal empires. The Mortal Empires DLC for WH2 had a 750~ MB install and I was good to go on that front.
But thanks for the advice, looks like im just gonna have to bite the bullet And install WH1 if i want the dlc.
We know, but it's just CA's way of confirming you have both by noticing you've booted up both at least once. That's probably the only reason you need to install WH1 and WH2 and at least run both of them one time. After that WH1 never becomes relevant anymore. So it's probably just for them to check you got both.
He is having some trouble with activating DLCs from WH1 in WH2. There are actually two DLCs with the same name for each of them, one is for WH1 and one is for WH2 but it is hidden in Store. For example:
Norsca for WH1: https://steamdb.info/app/455040/
and
Norsca for WH2: https://steamdb.info/app/594603/
So when you activate WH1 DLC Steam checks if you also own WH2 and activates another DLC for you. Activation is completed before you install the WH1 game using Steam functionality, so it shouldn't be necessary to install the first game for any DLCs. Installation starts but it is not necessary.
