Man, you guys are great. Thanks for educating and humouring me.
I MIGHT be able to bring myself to play a HE campaign now when this drops (and if I can beat my Norsca campaign pre-order-tide-nerf)
Alith Anar is basically the Punisher - he just wants all Druchii to die after they killed his entire family, going back three generations. From his point of view, the 'next level' use of brutal violence is completely justified.
Those references would have remained unrecognized to me had you not pointed them out, but that makes a lot of sense.
Which is kind of the issue. By beating the ♥♥♥♥ out of a bunch of Greenskins, the Greenskins are super into the idea of fighting him, and now *want* to attack Ulthuan just to fight him.
In the like, original canon, kinda, he hard killed Grom; sliced him up to tiny pieces and burned them. But that never made it into any of the actual books, so the DLC is going off the idea that Grom never died, instead.
You know, if you think about it, this sounds genuinely like a horrific nightmare. The more you kill them the more they come. Really, if he couldn't genocide the green-skins to extinction in the bad-lands, it's only going to end once Eltharion is slain by the biggest of waaahgs.
but in the end times eltharion dies the most anti-climactic death
TLDR vampire counts and arkhan the black try to bring back nagash and in doing so kidnap the daughter of alariel "the everchild" eltharion and a high elf expedition are sent to sylvania to try and rescue her and arkhan the black "stares" at eltharion and leeches his soul from his body leaving a empty husk and he just...dies
so arkhan the black looks him in the eyes and he just dies...and thats literally it
thats why end times suck
Yeah, it sounds like a lot of LL's were just lamely written out of existence in the end times. I think the only good thing that came from the End Times were the Vermintide Games (depending which patch we're talking about).

I maen, You could be talking about alith anar with everything you just said, cept for the fact that alith anar is so metal hes got a goddess on his side.
Then when he came back (almsot dead due to poison though) he discovered that his home and family were no more because a waaagh of greenskins had found its way on Ulthuan's shores, and only him and his men could stop it before those idiots would make Ulthuan sink and create another great chaos invasion at the result. So he wills himself back from the brink of death, saves his region, his country and kind of the world at the same time.
Then, pissed off with the greenskins, he decides to go in the badlands to hunt them down.
And kill so much of them that he becomes very famous with the greenskins; who love a good fight and powerful opponents more than anything else; so all the greenskins tribes started to endlessly send armies at him.
Which he keeps defeating but he realize that there is no end in sight as the more he kills the more the rest is becoming excited about going to war with him.
So finally heads back to protect his home.
Apparently the DLC happens in the time where he is still in the badlands on ME, so it's up to the player to decide if we're going through with the eradication of the greentide or if that's not going to happen and Ulthuan's protection should take priority.
