So, Eltharion the Grim
This guy a badass in the lore? A lot of the other HE lords strike me as pencil pushers sitting behind a desk pushing fake news etc. but Eltharion strikes me as a man (elf) of the earth - not afraid to get his hands dirty. Like, he sounds like he's seen some ♥♥♥♥.

Also, +1 for Mr. Paunch being released as well. About time there was LL that looks like me.

I don't know too much about Warhammer lore, but from what I read sometimes it's pretty fun and interesting.

My assumptions from Eltharion's title and what I saw in the video. He is a warden who has a job to do, and has probably seen some bad things in the line of duty. He seems to be relatively unspecial IE "not the chosen one or something else to set him apart". I think that's more interesting when someone isn't special, but just someone in an extraordinary circumstance. He's going to go catch that fat green-skin and put him down or throw him back in jail - probably.

No. He was just an elf prince and was doing some fighting elsewhete. He got poisoned and was dying but then his dad's ghost showed up and was like "yo, our homeland is in some ♥♥♥♥ and I'm dead, so... Get it done, son." So Eltharion wills himself into not dying and returns back to Yvresse, kicking the ♥♥♥♥ out of Groms waaagh and sending them packing. He's still really pale and stuff after the poison though and doesn't really smile at all.

He went over to the badlands to try and exterminate the orcs but his epic murder skills just kept attracting more yoigrate to the badlands. So he just reputed from that and stayed home to fend off anyone stupid enough to invade his homeland. Poor Aranessa is screwed after this DLC.

So his station of warden, was that before or after horrifying his brothers and sisters back on the donut island? Was it a station he wanted or is he there for a reason?

His story is kinda convoluted, because there were some retcons. But basically he always was the Warder of Tor Yvresse, and in this role he defended against Grom and led the counterattack.

Man, you guys are great. Thanks for educating and humouring me.

I MIGHT be able to bring myself to play a HE campaign now when this drops (and if I can beat my Norsca campaign pre-order-tide-nerf)

Eltharion is the High Elves grim crusader. In other words, he's essentially Batman--hence, all of the Batman references in the trailer (i.e., the goblin/joker interrogation scene/laughter ... the Jim Lee pose when the High Elves are moving out ...the snotling/Jerod Leto Joker leaning out of the pump wagon ... the griffon wings/batman cloak that fold around him when he lands, etc.)

Alith Anar is basically the Punisher - he just wants all Druchii to die after they killed his entire family, going back three generations. From his point of view, the 'next level' use of brutal violence is completely justified.

Those references would have remained unrecognized to me had you not pointed them out, but that makes a lot of sense.

He's a bit of a derp; he really hates Greenskins, and went to the Badlands where he led a big crusade against them, and crucified a bunch of war bosses, then came back to Ulthuan.

Which is kind of the issue. By beating the ♥♥♥♥ out of a bunch of Greenskins, the Greenskins are super into the idea of fighting him, and now *want* to attack Ulthuan just to fight him.

In the like, original canon, kinda, he hard killed Grom; sliced him up to tiny pieces and burned them. But that never made it into any of the actual books, so the DLC is going off the idea that Grom never died, instead.

You know, if you think about it, this sounds genuinely like a horrific nightmare. The more you kill them the more they come. Really, if he couldn't genocide the green-skins to extinction in the bad-lands, it's only going to end once Eltharion is slain by the biggest of waaahgs.

In the End times, most stuff gets run over by the ultimate Waaaagh, I don't know if he specifically dies to it, but if he lives to see it, I imagine seeing that would be quite unpleasant.

we dont talk about end times since it sucks

but in the end times eltharion dies the most anti-climactic death

TLDR vampire counts and arkhan the black try to bring back nagash and in doing so kidnap the daughter of alariel "the everchild" eltharion and a high elf expedition are sent to sylvania to try and rescue her and arkhan the black "stares" at eltharion and leeches his soul from his body leaving a empty husk and he just...dies

so arkhan the black looks him in the eyes and he just dies...and thats literally it

thats why end times suck

Yeah, it sounds like a lot of LL's were just lamely written out of existence in the end times. I think the only good thing that came from the End Times were the Vermintide Games (depending which patch we're talking about).

Basically that guy went deep into Dark elve territory near Naggarond, succesfully conducted raids there, burning towns and stuff, and came back alive, which is something that no one else did.
Then when he came back (almsot dead due to poison though) he discovered that his home and family were no more because a waaagh of greenskins had found its way on Ulthuan's shores, and only him and his men could stop it before those idiots would make Ulthuan sink and create another great chaos invasion at the result. So he wills himself back from the brink of death, saves his region, his country and kind of the world at the same time.
Then, pissed off with the greenskins, he decides to go in the badlands to hunt them down.
And kill so much of them that he becomes very famous with the greenskins; who love a good fight and powerful opponents more than anything else; so all the greenskins tribes started to endlessly send armies at him.
Which he keeps defeating but he realize that there is no end in sight as the more he kills the more the rest is becoming excited about going to war with him.
So finally heads back to protect his home.

Apparently the DLC happens in the time where he is still in the badlands on ME, so it's up to the player to decide if we're going through with the eradication of the greentide or if that's not going to happen and Ulthuan's protection should take priority.
