My solution is flyers and ladders, if you hit the wall defenders with the flyers while your infantry is climbing the ladders it's over pretty quickly then the infantry can cap the gate or I can bring up my archers to slaughter whatever defender they have inside the city but not on the walls.
The gates do suck though, I just don't even mess with them anymore. Pretty close to putting in a no wall mod or something myself.
I do but i often have some monstrous infantry I may as well charge in.
I am sure your right. I have 1.5K hours and I feel like I never really saw this happen. Its getting more common.
I noticed this. But it doesn't seem as efficient as when it is closed. I had a giant doing this and getting shot by outriders on the other side. It was frustrating.
Makes sense. I seem to remember in an early total war that the gates could be manually locked by clicking on them.
Tl;Dr - Best solution is bring siege equipment to a siege, second best is reposition the camera and keep attacking it while you eat the loses. ☹️
