Any luck with treasure hunting missions as a vampire pirate faction?
Playing Dreadfleet and the treasure hunt missions that you get as a pirate vampire faction give you a general circle where you need to 'dig for treasure', okay so far. The very first one I tried, I got a lord inside the circle area on the strategic map and hit the dig for treasure and was successful. Since then, I have yet to get another success and have tried in many areas inside specific circles to no avail. Anyone have any idea what else needs to be done in order to generate some success in the treasure hunting missions? I have them stacked up in my mission list and unfinished because I can never complete them.

Between the clue of the riddle and making sure to see where the camera is centering on when hitting on the maginifying glass, just lots of digging around that area. Preferably with a hero that has nothing better to do.

There's usually something on the map that relates to the riddle. If you fail to dig it up with an idle hero on the first 2-3 tries, i personally would abandon it and hope you get a more obvious one next time. Riddles of Ranald tend to be the hardest and most obnoxious, so i always abandon them first.

Yeah, those clues to the riddle are certainly not much to go on.

In my experience treasure hunting has been nothing but disappointment. It's not always clear where exactly you need to be or how large margin of error you can have, but even worse the rewards are really petty. Unless you just happen to pass by with an agent that already had a reason to be around it, the rewards barely or do not at all cover the upkeep of the agent digging.
I'd be happy to hear otherwise.

You really don't need "lots" of digging. Come on, it's not that hard.

Read carefully the hints. Then, click the zooming glass and take notice on the center of the screen. Your target is very near or at the exact center of the zooming screen. You pinpoint the place by relating what the clue says.

If it says something about eyes and faces, there should be a carved skull in a mountain nearby. Just dig below it.

If it mentions wonders not made by gods, then it is obviously a building or construction, a monument of some kind.

If it says dig where the tears gather, it is of course a lake or lagoon. Dig nearby or directly inside if you can.

If it says a mouth with no tongue, it is obviously the mouth of a river. Dig while standing on the delta.

If it says something about ancient drawings or scribblings, dig at the "nazca lines".

If it mentions dragons and fire, dig at the lava pits.

If it mentions the path upwards, dig at the beginning of the carved ramps on the rocks (this one is a unique place).

Those I believe are all the variants. After some 7-8 digs they start repeating themselves, both in exact places and exact riddles. Also across games. It is really easy!

The real issue is deciding which ones to pursue or abandon, and the criteria is also quite simple:
- How close is the site to any of your heroes?
- Can you spare someone to go there?
- Is the treasure miserly or great?

Edit:
Remembered another unique one:

The mirror pools or the fountain of youth: dig in the area between the ponds. The water is red. Unmissable.
