How are Armies of Pure Black Dragons?

In campaign sure if you can hide a lord on foot in some trees somewhere I guess. Just cheesy as can be tho but funny for a time

Yeah just make sure you have someone on the ground, else you'll suffer a massive stacking leadership penalty for not having any ground units.

I've done it with Star Dragons as high elves and it's hilarious there.

I'm thinking of executioners with black dragons. The executioners massacre everything in front of them and I drop the dragons on their back line and archers.

As far as doomstacks go, sounds decent.

Expensive as heck. You can get the same results with ~ 5 Black Guard + ~ 6 Darkshards + ~3 Bolt Throwers (for sieges and stuffing enemy archers) + ~ 3 Hydra + lords and heroes to suit.

Hyrdras do what they do, just cheaper.

I've got mods to keep upkeep at "normal" despite playing at "very hard" difficulty. Also, all my heroes have -15% army cost reductions AND I can put doomstacks on my black arks for more reduction in upkeep.

I make tons of money with my super +50% sacking lord person dude.

High Elves do the whole 19 dragon doomstack much better than DE due to having access to a lot off -% upkeep to units and dragons.

Star dragons are much stronger than black dragons, you can find a dragontamer who gives 10MD more for your dragons. And you can use life mages in your army, you need only 16 and a few mage as backup. Actually i play an HE game with Alarielle, 2 handmaidens (one buff heroes defence one archer buff,1 life mage and 8 Sisters of Averlorn+ 8 Dragons. You kill 2 chaos stacks with it without having losses, the damage on your dragons you simply heal, and the sisters melt anything which is in meele with the dragons. No need of 19 dragons. Make better two stacks with this money.
