Reavers Archers gain their value from being fast and highly maneuverable. You can lure spears and other enemy infantry away from the main battle line, or do rear charges with them where possible. Great for taking out slow artillery or charging enemy missiles from behind. Requires more micro, of course, but can be greatly effective.
Reaver archers are by far a better option for open battles and they have good synergy with LSG but this does make your army very defensive though and means you approach battle's conceding the flanks. HE should not willing give up on the flanks but a way to counter this is by trying to make your army a bit more aggressive in the air and reduce down archer units.
Shadow warriors are by far better options for more aggressive army's, which I say you can only start to get in T3 and you will need foundation of units to build on first, like eagles and then melee cavalry, shadow warriors would then replace the LSG essentially as there not much need for a defensive unit.

That's actually an interesting take on them. I hadn't considered giving up a defensive front line for a more offensive one. 🤔
